  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Samsung Galaxy S4 bluetooth connectivity

The carrier is Verizon, but I spoke too soon. I made 2 calls without any issues but the third call didn't go as well. The call began dropping within the first 10 seconds. Back to the drawing board for me. :(

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Try keeping the screen active and see of that helps any. It could be the power profile knocking the Bluetooth down to low power mode

FWIW: I own a 2012 Genesis 4.6 and am a Verizon subscriber. I updated to the Galaxy S4 phone last week (Android 4.2.2) and l love both the car and the phone. I have had NO problems with the Bluetooth connectivity. I would however like to figure out Google's Music Manager and how to load downloaded files to play through the car's stereo, if possible.

You don't have the Bluetooth streaming function so the only way will be the old fashioned audio cable approach.

2009 Genesis and I have the exact same issue as the OP. Carrier is Verizon and my prior Galaxy S3 worked without issue. The Galaxy S4 does have connectivity problems by saying call ended then a few second later it resumes that same call. When it appears to disconnect; if the radio is on, you and the person you are talking to, both here the radio. Later it shows the same behavior every 30 seconds. Annoying? Yes, but I will not get rid of the Galaxy for this issue.

I have a 2010 Genesis Premium Plus. I had problems with the Nav Unit about a month ago and the dealer ordered a brand new unit direct from the factory. It has the latest and greatest map updates and I’m pretty sure the latest firmware. I’ve had a Galaxy S2 for the last two years and never had a problem, other than the phone connecting to the car when the car was turned off and not running, mentioned in other threads.
I received my new S4 today and it will not even pair. The phone finds the Genesis during the scan but then displays an error message “ Unable to communicate with Genesis” and the pairing stops. The phone had no problem working with my Motorola headset. Since it never paired, the Bluetooth Auto program is no help. Survived the day with the Motorola, but it is no substitute for the car Bluetooth.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just paired my Galaxy S4 with my 2011 4.6 w/tech. Pairing went just like the manual states. No problem with my S4. FYI I do not have an update on the original unit in the Genesis.

Glad to see Samsung taking ownership for their failure to meet full backwards compatibility previously.

My phone is 1 month old with Android version 4.2.2. Just checked for update and it says I have no updates. Is the update a samsung or android update?

I just found out that there is a Samsung update 16hrs ago that is being pushed out by all three carriers. I have no notification yet for my device. Keeping fingers crossed.

Try a Turn Off Phone - wait - 1minute - Turn On phone..

Generally the updates are rolled out in waves, taking as much as 2 weeks to complete.

I spoke to Samsung today. They began rolling out a very large update the day before yesterday. The tech looked at the update contents and did not see bluetooth listed as part of the update.

I hope you guys with S4s will keep us posted as to whether or not the new update fixes the bluetooth problem. I want to buy an S4 as soon as I know it works with my G.

My S4 is about 10 days old (upgraded phone at RadioShack) and pairs with my 2011 Genesis just fine.

I received the update on my S4 this morning. My 2009 Genesis Sedan with Tech package still disconnects the call...and reconnects. The update said that they fixed issues with the Ford Sync bluetooth...I was hoping our issue would be fixed...and just not stated.

I am curious about other's experience.

crhb- don't have an S4, but had very similar trouble with a test drive 2009 a couple yrs ago and 2 different phones. not sure if this is purely software (TSB?) or a different head unit.

do not have much trouble with 2011 & any of those old units - or an iPhone. FWIW...

A few days ago I upgraded from a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 to an ATT Galaxy S4. I am happy to report everything seems to be working well. I was reluctant to make the switch from what I read here but I just got tired of Sprint. So far, so good.

Android version is 4.2.2.
