If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Small vibration in seats during idle

No vibration on my 2016, but the driver seat had a "rocking" feel. The dealer replaced the entire seat to correct.

I now have the vibration issue too, started about a week ago, only when ac is on and I can feel the ac cycling w a y more than it should. Sure the car is under warranty, but the real source of dread here is the only options I have available to me without driving over an hour to some dealer I have never been to before is south point which is downright scary or round rock which is just as scary but slightly less irritating to get to. I have taken such great pains to maintain my car so well, not a single scratch or ding....... and now this, ugh.

I have taken my car to RR Hyundai with the exact same vibration issue and was told that was "normal" - three separate visits, same answer every time. I even spoke to a Hyundai regional service person - she claimed it was "normal" for a Genesis as well.

For a $50,000 Genesis, this is apparently "normal". For a $16,000 Chevy Cruze - not. For a $22,500 Nissan Altima - not. For a $22,000 Hyundai Sonata - not (these are the rental cars RR Hyundai provided through Enterprise while my car was in the shop several times). No vibration when driving and very light vibration at idle in all of those vehicles.

If you get anywhere with RR Hyundai or Hyundai corporate on this issue, I would be VERY interested to know.

Did the vibration happen as you started the car with the AC in the on position? Mine has a "lugging" feeling under that type start up but no issue if started with the AC off then turn on the AC.

I test drove a 2015 LS460 F Sport which had more vibrations than my 2015 Genesis with the AC on.

i don't noticed any bogging down of the engine per se, whether starting w ac or no, but I can absolutely now tell when it is on,. w/o the car is dead still (when running) but as soon as I start the ac, its like im sitting in the massage chair at brookstone

if I do I will (not holding my breath), but I have been round and round with them on other issues w/ a first gen by proxy and they make it VERY clear that Penske is big, you the consumer are small, so suck it . . . This is all very frustrating not so much because of the standard car dealer thing is still the norm for genesis owners in central tx, but that folks in other parts of the nation that have genuine, dedicated and true GENESIS dealers seem to be getting top notch service. just my observation.

Same here, once it gets above 80 with the AC on the car vibrates when stopped in D. Once you start moving the vibration is hardly noticeable. I also have the seat issues that others stated. Every now and then when turning you can feel the drivers seat shift ever so slightly. My Sonata didn't have any noticeable increase in vibration with the AC on.

I will agree, due to normal nvh from driving, the vibration is barely noticeable once driving again unless at VERY low speed over PERFECT seamless asphalt

So, common theme here (for the most part): the vibration comes and goes dependent upon A/C functions - I experience the same issue. However, in my opinion, it's the cooling fan. The A/C does add considerable load to an idle engine thus it makes sense for the fan to be a connected function. Turn off the A/C and the fan is not needed (given the engine temp is otherwise normal).

If I'm correct, and the cooling fan is to blame, and since this is happening across multiple Genesis configurations, it reasons to assume a replacement fan would operate/vibrate in the same fashion. Honestly, if it's that big of a deal to someone the best option would be a non-hyundai replacement. You'd have to do this on your own and accept the collateral risks, however.

I don't use the auto setting and keep the fan speed more or less constant. The NVH at idle in Houston traffic is proportional to the heat being dealt with by the AC. During the spring and autumn, when the load is very low, there is virtually no vibration. On cool days last winter, I would turn the AC off and run the fan higher than I would otherwise and there was no vibration whatsoever.

I will be visiting my dealer tomorrow for the 18k checkup while the July sun blazes and let the forum know how it went.

They are replacing the motor mounts. The same time they are replacing the stationary front glass panel on the roof between the sunroof and windshield. Who on earth at Hyundai thought it was a good idea to make one of the most aerodynamically stressed parts of a car out of glass when it does not have to be? I WATCHED MINE CRACK FROM END TO END IN THE SUN IN A MATTER OF 10 to 15 MINUTES. I should have video taped it, but the sun was killer bright. I have some pictures before I drove slowly to the dealer. They are replacing it no questions asked and rented me a 2017 4x4 Nissan Frontier SE with 182 miles on it from Hertz because they were out of loaners.

Does anyone have an update on the status of their inquiry with the dealers?

My car seems to want to rattle itself apart ...

The AC is belting out loads of cold air to combat the thermal solar collector we have mounted on top of our cars known as a pano roof. A no es bueno situation in central and East Texas.

Hi Seejay,

Sorry to hear about your glass issue, that really sucks. My rentals are usually Chevy Cruze's or when "lucky" a base model Hyundai Sonata ... no loaners at my dealership.

It's been 100F+ here the past week or so, vibrations are going into overdrive

I am really curious to hear if the motor mounts will have a positive effect on the vibration issue - I really want some good news on that front to go to the dealership and ask for a fix - right now that effect is considered "normal" by the two service departments I have taken the car to ...

Please keep us updated on the car. I hope the Nissan treats you well!

Hey AustinTX,
You may want to try keeping the fan speed up in the interior of the car as much as possible. If necessary, point the vents away from you and set the temp to something reasonable and comfortable. That will keep the pressures and temperatures of the system and the exchangers to the optimum and it _MIGHT_ reduce the vibration. Most air conditioners will only operate properly where a certain amount of heat or cold is transferred at a time across the exchangers, like a home central AC. But car AC is special because the condenser (outside exchanger) is being shoved through air at 30-50 mph.

I will let you know how the motor mounts work out. Mine would make a sort of "thunk" sound when starting the engine warm that seemed to be a metric of some sort? "Change the mounts when it thunks, ONLY."

YES! :) This is the car I should have had 18 months ago. The new motor mounts have re-fashioned the car. I cannot be certain, but since having test driven several other 2015 V6 Genesis, I would say the new mounts are not just a replacement for the ones that were there, but that they seem to be a substantial upgrade in NVH reduction. A new supplier? A change in the design?

Happy to hear that your fix worked!

Hello Seejay,

Did this resolve the vibration issue? My car is driving me bonkers, and if there is a way to fix the vibration issue, I will ask Hyundai to get that done to my car ...

At this point, I'm desperate to get this piece of shit to behave like a luxury car, not like a 1950's rust bucket ...

Yes, this issue is resolved. There is nearly no vibration. According to the tech, one of the motor mounts was actually collapsed, and I presume there is a way to visually determine this. The engine had shifted position slightly and was causing the occasional thunk when I started the car. My service manager told me there was no formal TSB for this.

Good to know, wonder if the original mounts were some type of hydraulic mounts which probably leaked.
