I was wondering if there would be any interest in having a race day for us SoCal members. Just think about it, several Genesis coups and sedans hitting the drag strip and having some 1/4 mile fun, seeing how fast our cars are and showing off a bit in the process. We could meet at Fontana at the Autoclub Raceway for one of the NHRA's Street Legal race days, it is only $20 to race so it is very affordable.
Another race that we could run would be the Mojave Mile or the Mojave Magnum, this would allow you the opportunity to run your car up to top speed . The mile is, as it's name suggest, a 1 mile long perfectly straight track, while the Magnum event is 1.5 miles. These events are held at the Mojave airport so it is a bit longer of a drive for most of us and the event also cost a lot more then drag racing at $350 for a day or $550 for the weekend. But where else can you legally explore the speed limiter?
We could also head up to Willow Springs in Rosemond, this would be for those of you that prefer going fast and turning. These days cost less then Mojave but far more then the drags at $220 for the day. Depending on the day it can either be the 1.6 Mile Streets of Willow or the 2.5 Mile Big Willow course. This is much more risky for our cars then the others as a off due to a missed apex can be damaging, but it may be much more fun as a driver.
So here is the question, Would you like to get together for a race day? If you were going to get together with several other Genesis drivers for a race day which one would you like to do?
