  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Solution! LED DRL's and LED turn signals

We're all expecting pics!!

Can you please post the URL to the parts i need?

VLED 5k and 1157 adapter. I've been looking all over their site and there are so many of each to choose from i want to get the right one and want to keep it plug and play as to not void warrantees.

I'm working with a few companies (and within my company) in Korea to get the OEM dual projector/LED turn signal headlights. :D
They cost about $1,500 USD + S&H.

Curious - other than appearances, is there an advantage to the dual projectors? Is one low beam and one high beam? Are the LED eyelashes white for DRL and switch to amber for turn signals?

No hole needed! Everything fit nice inside the housing. No muss no fuss ;)
Thanks for the input on this mod. It was very helpful and photos are worth a lot of dialogue. Well done. I tried to find a way to replace the existing holder with a 3 wire holder and a switch back bulb but could not get past the ECU doing the switching without a lot of rewiring so thanks to the original post from Jeff Thomas I think. Waiting for the plug and play Vleds to arrive. The fogs may have to wait until the after market or Hyundai make a kit. The eBay offering of the lights suggested the bumper has to be cut to accommodate the leds. Anybody tackled this one yet?:)

I dont use these VLEDs as DRLs anymore. They would randomly turn amber for like 3 seconds and back to white. Both sides are doing it. Matter of fact... I think I saw it doing the samething on demo video on page one. Gonna call VLED to see whats up.

NOTE OF CAUTION. I contacted Vled re "stuffing" all the parts inside the light housing. Here is their reply ------
The V3 Control box has a load resistor built inside it.
The load resistor can get very hot if let's say the turn signals or the four
way emergency flashers were left on for a very long time.
We would recommend mounting the control box to a metal surface and would recommend making sure that there are NO wires touching the control box.
If you have any more questions please feel free to contact us and have a
wonderful day.------
Even though under normal use the control box will perhaps only get hot with extended use of a turn signal such as at a long left light, over time the heat will have a adverse effect on the insulation. I am leaning towards the original plan of mounting the "bits" outside the housing but need to see how best to do this for the pax side light. Any input appreciated.

That's why I Dremeled holes in the dust caps to run the wires and mount the control units on the outside..heat. It is also an easy installation. There are 2 relays(I think) next to each light nearer to the radiator. They are held on by nuts. The hole on the Vleds control box fits right over it. I found 2 identical nuts and just slid the unit onto the bolt sticking out and added the new nuts to tighten. Fits quite well like that. The only issue is sealing the dust cap hole around the wires to keep dirt/moisture out. I taped up as well as I could but am looking for a better solution to that. Hope that helps.

Excellent thoughts on mounting the bits outside of the light housing. I get it. The current limiting resistors can I fact put out heat, as they say. And to play it on the safe side, is not a bad thing. I think pics of the caps and the mounting would be helpful.

Thanks so much...

So I spoke to vleds staff about our tritons randomly turning amber while in white DRL mode. These tritons works best when use in cars that uses 1157 bulbs as parking lights and turning signals. Our genesis uses 1157 bulbs as DRL and turning signal. They recommended buying their external triton resistors and disabling control box resistors by pulling out the fuse from triton wires. I wont be doing that. I only got these tritons for LED turning signal and am very happy with them.

Have any of you guys experience DRL turning amber randomly with these VLED tritons?

I have Lou, but it is very rare. Rare enough that I'm going to leave mine alone for now.

I wonder if there are any functional differences between the KDM headlights and the normal ones, other than the indicators being integrated in the led strip. What purpose dies the inner lense next to the grill have since its not an indicator anymore.

The innermost light is still and indicator as it houses a yellow bulb which does serve for use as flashers. Sure sounds like the function is not similar to the US model. Then there is the question of legality as any car having biXenon must have auto levelling lights by US/Canadian law which these are or at least on the Canadian version they are, again there may be functionality issues involved here.

The headlamp design has just changed for the US Spec Genesis, the DRL is now the led surround and it is white.
