  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Speaker cover in the trunk

oh.. I just looked at mine.. the speaker magnets and wires are exposed.. This should be free to retrofit, imo

I agree. I would not mind a program recall on this. :)

Glad to see at least that Hyundai listened to feedback. This was the #1 negative observation when the Genesis first came out. Another example of how quickly SKoreans react swiftly. I don't think a Japanese manufacturer would have made such a cosmetic change within a month of a new product launch.

I agree this is really nice.

I hope this level of reaction is continuing. I think the other line items we have indentified:

1. Remote keys need to be bound to memory settings
2. CD player needs to automatically switch to the next CD

This sounds like a firmware update.

Cheers

Thomas

Thomas... the cd player is an easy fix. It's a "play continuance" in the software, easy firmware upgrade.. I've heard one is coming sometime between January to February. Don't quote me,,, Harman has a habit of pushing back updates... they like to get things right the first go round... instead of making customers come back time and time again... (versus what apple does : push out a crummy product and let customers linger on consistent updates to fix problems, while creating more in the meantime).

If enough people "complain" (in a professional and courteous way) to Hyundai about this exposed speaker issue, there should be no reason they wouldn't fix it gratis, imo. There is a definite problem with large packages in the boot, that could break the speaker(s) or a wire... causing an issue only to be resolved in a dealership... which could have been originally prevented had Hyundai acknowledged this issue from the beginning.

Not to point fingers, but while it's not "their" fault it broke (assuming we place small packages, luggage, etc, in our trunk that caused the speaker to shift, or a wire to break the solder from the speaker), it is their fault it's not covered up. And should not be exposed.

They have spent enough time thinking of the other smaller effects thru and thru, why not this? Why was the trunk left unfinished?

edit: my time frame for a firmware update was from harman/becker NOT hyundai. What happens from the time a firmware upgrade for DIS is created @ harman's level to the time it's sent off to Hyundai for approval is a different story. We all know they will analyse it to no end.

I'm not sure that I would want that lining.

The sub woofer if working with all that space back theire.
By instaling the liner I'm prety shure the sound envelope will change

Can you guys that have it do a side by side lesten test with one that has one and one not?? Same bass output???

Hapy tomes to all

I got my 4.6 Tech 2 weeks ago. Mine has the speaker cover and it has a vinyl molded floormat with "Hyundai" molded in that sits over the carpet much like one of those " WeatherTech" all weather covers. I listened to the V-6 at the dealer and it did not sound as rich and crisp on the base. But that may be equalizer settings or station as well.

I see buy your other pictures that the wheel caps do fit both model 18" wheels! Thats good to know!

So, is there a recall for the trunk liner/cover? My V6 Tech purchased in Sept does not have one. The recall would be much easier for me as I purchased from a dealer in Dallas - a 2.5 hour drive for me. Not that it would not be a great road trip for me and the family in a great looking car...

I would like to know if it changes the sound quality having a smaler enclosure for the sub woofer???

My dealer is claiming that only 4.6s come with the cover and NOT 3.8s - can anyone confirm?

Thomaspf,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for the photo! Just got off the phone with my salesman. He talked to his Regional Manager who confirmed (if this is correct info) that V-6s made after July have the trunk liner. They ordered it and will put in in for no cost.

After seeing EVH's post, I am a little concerned when I hear "rivets", but hopefully it will work out.

Did you get it installed yet?
Curious as to how it went...

My 4.6 V-8 can with the cover, cargo net and a cargo tray (extra $100 for the tray).

They are covered in my V8. Could this be a production change?

The dealer was very responsive to the issue (I called them on 10.16.08 and they notified me that the part was in on 10.28.08) - I have just been too busy to bring it in and get it installed.

I will post back as soon as I get it installed.

Viking,

Did you have to pay for the part?

Ron E,

No - they are not charging me for the part...

I have the part on order, my dealer is charging me $100, with an additional $78 to install it.
