In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Speaker cover in the trunk

Thank you again, Thomaspf! The day you posted the picture of your trunk liner, I emailed it to my sales guy. The Hyundai Regional Manager was at the dealership when he received the note/picture and made a decision on the spot that they would order and install the trunk cover at no cost. They installed it today and it looks much better - like a finished product!

I am glad I could be of help. I got a lot of good ideas from this forum so I do my best as well.

Cheers

Thomas

Well I ordered the cover at my local dealer today. I talked to the area rep here in Vegas yesterday and he said it was part of the trim on the 4.6 models only. They had a 3.8 with tech package on the floor with a prod date of Oct 4th and it didn't have a cover so I don't think they're putting it in anything but the V8's for now. It looks so much better with the cover so I went ahead and ordered it. I have some friends at the dealer so I at least got it for employee cost. I had a couple questions to those of you who have had it done.
Is anything else needed besides the trim piece itself. I know it's riveted along the edge below the rear window but is there anything else that secures it or does it just snap into place?
The other question is does it effect the sound at all of the stereo system. I have the tech package so its got the upgraded 17 speaker system which sounds great.
Thanks for any input.

They called me yesterday afternoon, the part was in so I'll be heading down there today to have it installed. I did stop down to see it and the part is not riveted in, what looks like rivets actually is what secures the clips to the panel so I don't think it's gonna be a hard install at all.

cdango,

Did you have the trunk cover installed? Did you get to do a side-by-side test first between the V-8 with the cover and V-6 without?

Bought my V6 Premium Plus in early September and it does not have the cover.

my car came with it, build date 8/22/08. also came with floor mat as well as cargo net in the trunk, that was not listed as an extra and i didn't pay anything for it, but sure is nice to have.

According to his signature he has the 4.6. Therefore, the v8.

I truly believe all V8 Genesis come with the speaker cover in the trunk. As for the V6 it could be an option in future production models.

So the V8s come with the cover, and the V6s don't (even my V6 Tech doesn't have it). That sounds like penny pinching to me.

So anyone have a price for this cover, and where to get it?

Gotta read to the end, this is a 2 page thread. ;)

$143.23

Thanks BaywayRic. I was seriously too lazy to read the entire thread... :)

Hopefully I can answer a couple questions(Viking and Wordman). As far as the sound difference, to me it sounds like there is a little deeper bass sound in the vehicle-not in a bad way though. I can feel it more in the seat of my pants lol. As far as the side by side comparison, I didn't get to do it because the one V8 Genesis they had was not on the lot at the time. I did install the cover myself. There is no drilling required, the panel comes with all the required clips attached(4) and there are 3 clips that hook along the edge of the trunk that are also attached (you need to pull up the weatherstip along the back edge of the trunk, slide the clips on and the push the weatherstrip down back over the clips and the top lip of the cover) easy instalL, I think it took me all of 10-15 minutes. There were two tabs on the back side of the cover(where it meets the back of the seat) that I could not see where they attached. I don't know if they were used in the production of the cover and were to be removed but I couldn't find anywhere where they would hookup. I didn't cut them off I just folded them in so they are under the cover in case I find out they are needed for something. As far as I know at this time the dealer is the only place to get it. It took 1 day for mine to come in from LA and I got it at employee cost which was about $125.00 with tax

I ordered the part from my dealer and finally it came in and I picked it up today. It is part number 85720 3M000BR TRIM ASSY - LUGG PARTITION. The retail cost from my dealer was $165, but the Hyundai rep told the dealer to sell it to me for $78 due to my complaints that it was not included in my v6 Genesis.
I brought it home and installed it myself. Took less than ten minutes, a perfect fit. Makes the trunk look finished like it is supposed to. Their are four little plastic push pins that clip into holes in the sheet metal, and there are three hooks that slide in under the weather proofing gasket. My dealer wanted to charge me for one hour of labor to install this thing, I am glad I said no and did it myself. Paying anyone to install this would be a ripoff.
The part has some sound proofing insulation on the back side of it that is not visible when installed. Probably will help make for a quieter ride by cutting down on road noise.
Like cdango says above, there are two extra tabs that dont really fit. I think they are there as part of the production process and probably could be trimmed off before installation. But I just tucked them up in too, without trimming them off.
If you do not have this part of the trunk lining in your Genesis, I recommend getting it to give your trunk a much more finished look.

Ohh, and another thing, I noticed no sound difference in the radio in the before and after install. I have the v6 premium package radio, not the tech package radio if that makes a difference to anyone...

It's good to know that this can be installed without drilling. I guess the rivets hold the plastice clips to the panel. Good write-ups guys!

Thanks SO much for the part number and $$ and all the hints about install. I now have a number to give my dealer since he claimed he didn't have the time to find it :). Wellllll... We'll show him! THANKS!!
