  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spy shots of the long-awaited GV80.

I just now realized something. The center console runs through both the 1st and 2nd rows. This means that this large vehicle will only be able to seat 4. What?!?!

I was planning to wait for the release to potentially get one for my wife. Absolutely not...we are moving on. Heck...my G70 (with its tight back seat) will be able to haul more passengers.

Is there a chance this will change and it will be a conventional bench seat in the back row? Hmmmm.

I think you might be seeing one of the 2nd row seats folded down not a center console. It's for extra cargo space.

In the spyshots I’ve seen there’s seven or eight seats. The second row has three seats, maybe it’s configurable?

Did you also see the wires coming out of the consul in a couple of photos? It could be just for more instruments and still fit four engineer during the tests. Doubt there is much of a market for a 4 passenger SUV but you never know.

^ Ok...so I looked at some more of the spy shots...and yes...it DOES seem like the 2nd row is a bench. Phew.

I just looked at some of the early prototype pics...and read various descriptions stating the center console carries back. So that threw me off.

I think what happened is that those pictures that where shown on the website where of an earlier prototype back around earlier this year. Those images I’ve seen many times before and they aren’t brand new ones. They will have a second row seating bench with the option of Captains chairs. It’s going to be a very nice vehicle. Also I have noticed one detail is that on the GV80 they are moving the pedestrian detection system to the lower part of the grill instead of what they have right now on the G70/G80/G90. Might just be only the SUV’s that get it but who knows.

There are quite a few SUVs on the market now that only seat two in the 2nd row. Captain chairs seem to be becoming quite popular and imagine Genesis will offer the same at some point.

Personally I like Captains Chairs more then having a full row. Especially if it’s a vehicle like this you can still have 7 people in it comfortably.

That is true...but usually those cars have a 3rd row. I am yet to see a larger SUV have 4 seats.

Our Pilot has captain chairs in the 2nd row. But the 3rd row easily seats 3 adults.

I think I saw one the other day. I left the WalMart right across from the Hyundai/Genesis dealer and pulled behind it.. This one had white swirls over black for camo. I got along side but could not get a picture of it. Profile looked like this photo and the grill was definitely Genesis style.

I give it a big ole "meh" until we see the GV without its lingerie...

Have there not been any more spyshots of the GV80? There are tons of the G80 and they should have a similarly close release date.

We have groundbreaking new information... the GV80 has a rear window wiper! Haha.

Anyway, thanks for your contributions as always, Aura!

...aaaaaaany day now.

Strategy? The Genesis SUV/Crossover program has a strategy?
