I too looked at the
Telluride but it's a little bit pricey for what it is, just like all the other crossovers of that category. GV80 will probably be right up my alley (features, performance, etc.)
Regarding the performance, the X5 40i does 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. The V8 version (50i) does it in 4.6 seconds.
Compare that to the current G80 3.3 twin turbo V6: it does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds according to car and driver. See here:
2019 Genesis G80. G80 is also on the heavy side for the category.
So even compared to the much pricier BMW X5 50i, there is only a 0.3 seconds difference. I don't know about you but for me, that performance delta is not worth 20k. Not to mention the future maintenance costs associated with a german brand.
The G80 is incredibly quiet (67db if I remember the AoA review correctly) and rides comfortable which is what I'm after, more than handling dynamics. According to multiple review outlets, the G80s handling isn't too bad either. Regarding handling, I would say that BMW probably has an edge over Genesis models of the current generation but we will have to reserve judgement until the new generation G80 and GV80 reviews are out.
