  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

The profile & wheels look nice. Hopefully the camo will come off before September!

I think this image reveals how the headlights will look;

Those headlights look clean! We can also see a thick grill border, though I don't think we can be sure that'll be the final version since it doesn't have the sensor plate hidden like it would be in production.

I agree that the headlights do look clean. I like that the headlight is in line with the top of the grille, even though it does not look so here - I think it looks a bit curved due to the side fender lines and how the picture was taken. Head on, i bet it will look symmetrical across.

Looks like the grill bezels are similar to that of the g70, which is a good thing. Cant wait to see more!

Anyone holding off on their g80 purchase because of this?
Yes, current G80 lacks an immense list and this seems to have unprecedented improvements and every feature the aforementioned lacks.

Even if someone likes the current G80, they should wait for the new one for good used prices. The best thing about the G80 is its value, especially with its high depreciation. Once the new G80 starts coming out, the 2018 G80 Sport will probably start hitting high $30ks for decent mileage used (maybe 30-50k miles), and that's a great deal for what the Sport trim provides even if it's not cutting edge now.

Judging by the Genesis Canada site, the 2020 doesn't look much different than the 2018-2019. Am I not seeing something?

The new, redesigned g80 will be a 2021 model, arriving and sold in 2020.

Ahhh so that one is a year or so away.
It could be. Genesis has had a tough time with the G70 release in NA so I'm hoping that things for the G80 is better.

My anticipation is that the official US reveal will be in November, with the car being offered for sale in the US next July.

Anyone holding off on their g80 purchase because of this?

I would, but my lease is up in September so sadly I cannot hold out that long. Might replace my 2016 Ultimate with a G80 Sport or G90 if they bump up incentives in the next few months. I LOVE the G70, but it's just a tad too small for my needs (backseat & trunk space.)

These camouflage images just don't really do me much good. I look at some of the artist renderings and think they hit a home run. But you can just change a line or two and it can ruin the whole thing. I won't make up my mind about this until I see the actual car. Even after owning the G80 Sport now for several months I still think the exterior is one of the sharpest cars on the road. I wish they had done the dash in leather like they did with the G70 and there are a few minor things I would have changed on the interior but it is very comfortable if not the most convenient. If they hit a home run I'll be looking to upgrade in 2022. (I don't like buying the first model year.) If not I may keep this car for a while or who knows maybe a GV80 is in the cards for me. The SUV's are really easy to get in and out of and I ain't gettin no younger. Like Carguy81 I love the G70 but not sure the back seat or trunk has enough room.

The next G80 is in many ways, the first full-fledged Genesis model.

The 1st model to get distinct Genesis design language (post-split from Hyundai) and new platform which hadn't been used for previously badged Hyundai models.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the G80 gets the new/distinct UI for Genesis (hopefully, it'll be ready).

On a side note, there's a report from a Japanese publication that Toyota/Lexus may end up using Mazda's RWD platform and straight-6 engine which are in development.

Would not only be used for the new Mark X, but the next, next IS (the next IS will be based on the TNGA platform) and other Lexus RWD models.

Lexus RWD sales have gone into the crapper which is why Toyota isn't interested in sinking a lot of $$ into its own R&D for such type of vehicles.
