  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

^^^ if the new G80 is anything like the existing, North America will not get the rear seat controls options.

it has always been available on the G80 in Korea, but never here, only on the G90

It was available in Australia and Germany too, but it most likely won't make it here due to the G90 already existing.

The current G80 is quite a bit larger than your typical midsize sedan, but the downfall is that it was too large and heavy compared to the competition. I wonder if the new one has shrunk in size.

If anyone is familiar with this: I'm curious about colors (interior & exterior) and rim options - are they likely to vary by country, or would it be more likely that these will be the same worldwide? So that, when we see the Korean G80 colors and rim options, can we be fairly certain that we'll have the same choices in the States?

I don't think so brother. It felt identical to my wife's Kia Optima SXL to me, and my wife said her car was slightly roomier in the back. It's only 2" longer, but trunk space (not surprisingly) is better on her car too, due to no RWD hardware. So yes, it's big, but not in interior volume. But that's the price you pay for RWD, so I'm fine with that :D.

^ Specifically, the G80 is roomier than its RWD competition (5 Series, E Class, XF, GS, Q70).

Here's a design comparison done w/ the F/L E Class.

While BMW (deservedly) has gotten a lot of flack for their designs lately (being a Bimmer-phile - have been bummed about that), but Mercedes designs in many cases have actually been worse, and the F/L E Class is a good example fo that.

Just bland, amorphous shapes which do little to appeal to the eye.

I don't feel my Genesis is too big. Side by side, it looks huge compared to my cousin's 2006 M5 but BMW's have always been on the small side. My 2015 is sized more like a 7 series. I thought it looked big when I was shopping around but looking at the specs, it was only 6" longer than the YF Turbo it replaced. It just took a while to get used to the longer wheelbase.

Yes, I was referring to its overall size. The darn thing is bigger than my old LS 430. And next to my current GS model, it's a monster. 😅

Not my pic, but here's what I mean:

The tradeoff for its size is that it's heavy as sin and doesn't handle as well as the smaller midsize competition and drinks fuel like a truck.

DAMN! You guys beat me to it! SUPER!!! SUPER EXCITED BABY!!!!

They must have taped a black fabric sheet over the windows. Looking good tho. I was waiting for the leaks to arrive on this forum... same way the GV80 leaks showed up.

Exciting times here.

I'm currently an owner of a G70, and do prefer it as the G80 is a bit too big for me, but I'm loving the look of this new G80 and may have to switch when it comes out. Love that fastback design.

Info leaked about the 2021 G80 mentions that it will have 20” wheels standard - vs current G80’s 18” wheel size. That seems like a big change. Should we be expecting a corresponding big change in ride quality, namely a much firmer ride, since there will be less tire height to absorb road bumps & shocks? Is this likely to change the whole character of the G80 as a smooth riding (in the American style) luxury sedan?

The G80 top end model will have 20"s, the lower tier models will have 19's and 18's. Also the G80 will have the GV80's camera controlled adjustable suspension. This will maintain the ride quality.

The new one likely won't be as much of a heavy floating boat as before, if that's what you mean by "American style". Like the most recent Genesis vehicles (G70 and GV80), it'll likely use its BMW equivalent (the 5-Series) as a size/weight/power benchmark. And the naturally aspirated V8 will be killed off.
