  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Subwoofer under front seats?

To be honest, even with a frequency sweeper, I think the same thing. I don't think it does anything.

I am going to look into how complicated it is to remove the front driver seat and possible test this over the weekend.
Take pictures. Todd set the bar high for tutorials. Hopefully it’s just (4) floor bolts and a wire harness to disconnect.

Got my G70 back and gave up the G80 loaner. Two big things I noticed. The G80 sounds system in the sport is way, WAY better than the G70's. Basically much more enveloping, more coming from the rear of the car while still maintaining a decent Soundstage. And the bass is proper, hands down what I wish our G70 had. Much deeper cleaner and more pressure.

The second thing I noticed is the G70 is like a scapal compared to the plush G80 tourer.

Point being I'm part of the "let's improve the bass response in the G70". May have to add a sub..

Just did a nice road trip in mine, subs work great. In fact, on some tracks, I had to turn the volume down as I had way too much bass. Though I have a 2020 model, not sure if there is a difference there. Also, I bought (on sale on Amazon for a lot less then it originally came out for) an Astell and Kern Jr as my source. I use the AUX port as well, not blue tooth.

Not sure if any of that makes a difference as I'm not sure what you guys are using as a source. But I certainly have zero complaints about the sound system. Bass is fine, treble is fine, goes plenty loud without distortion.

I do know the sub has a cover on it to protect it from water and other debris, so that could be why you guys don't see the cone move. Or, could be there is something wrong with your connection on the subs.

A good track I play is Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (Flac file high 96khz high resolution file). Understand though the bass at the beginning is not EDM or RAP bass, it's actually not that low on the hz scale, but it hits and it hits just fine in the G70. Just as good as my home system can.

I tried the frequency test today played a youtube videos -- No sound from the sub yet.. I am so so confused if this sub works or not :/
at around 60Hz the door speakers kick in below that everything is silent.

This my friends is why you won't feel much vibration. Yes, it works.. No, this isn't close to Todd quality of step by step instructions. 😊

There’s a chance my bung hole is bigger!

Thanks for a picture I really didn't need :suicide:

@mrcleeaan Thanks for pulling your car apart for us! Looks like there's no space to put anything bigger in there either

And with such small trunk then we can say that there is no space in our G70 for having good subwoofers.

I mean, I'm happy with the sound it puts out. A little more boom would be cool, but for me it's the last thing on my mind with regards to the car. If I want some more bass, I'll set the tone a bit higher and get my desired result (don't kill me audiophiles)

anyone willing to fiddle with the amplifier to see *if ( highly unlikely) it has any settings? the above picture says the amplifier is in the trunk.

There you go - they definitely work. Thanks very much for doing that. BTW - my Outback has a sub in the back, on the side around the area of the passenger rear tire. It's also an HK system. It sounds great for a factory system .... until I heard my G70. Sound quality doesn't even come close to comparing. Very happy with the sound of the G70 (you should listen to the system in the Acura TLX.... I prefer my Outback)

Thanks for doing that, I'm becoming more and more curious about my subwoofers. Did you turn on any music to test it while it was out?

^ hey Piz - where'd you get those illuminated kick plates?

"Illuminated door scuffs" came with the car and cost an extra $395. They felt pricey at the time for such a small feature, but they've grown on me. Doesn't hurt that I've received a bunch of compliments about them and the puddle lights. Makes me feel like I need to drive at night with friends more, lol.

Also, seeing the "illuminated door sill plates" link from @Beefer, seems I got a decent price.

Someone beat me to it, but it does work, but it’s pathetic... like blasting hip-hop as that’s the most bass heavy thing I can think of at 90% volume and it barely moves... I’m not even sure why it exists.

The videos I see of the stinger Gt’s floor subs are amazing, I put some crumbs from the floor on the speaker to show its movement. Video link:

I’m leaving the seat out for the next hour as I vacuum under them, if there is anything you want me to test, let me know.

That crumb bouncing may be from ambient vibration from other speakers. Stinger has Harmon Kardon system so different animal from Lexicon in G70. (Obviously)
Thanks to MrCleean and Floof! for chasing this down the hole, almost literally. I hope this closes the book on posts about this (But I bet it does not).
