  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Suspension question V6 / V8

I have no complaints about the ride of my 3.8. My wife and I truely enjoy it both in town and on the highway. I don't baby the car and I tend to drive it a little on the faster than I probably should. It will run all day at 100 mph.

In order to address the suspension issue more accurately, I think we need a poll. If someone can put a poll with these categories, that would help a lot. This way we can tell how many percent of people on this forum who own a Genesis have a noticeably flawed suspension.

-Suspension Flawed (Unhappy with suspension)
V8
-Suspension Fine (Happy with suspension)

-Suspension Flawed (Unhappy with suspension)
V6
-Suspension Fine (Happy with suspension)

This will help to see how many people actually have a suspension issue. If someone could post this up, it should help. So far, I've only seen like 2 people complain on the suspension, but I'm probably not looking to hard.

No, you must not have looked too hard.

One of the problems is that when two different people experience the same thing, one may complain and the other may not. Some may admit the ride is a little stiff, but say they don't have an issue with the suspension. Others claim everything is perfect. Also, the issues are also very much dependent on the road surface one is driving on.

I would recommend you do a little searching in this forum, but ultimately you should do a test drive on various roads. You don't have to be going at high speed to experience the issue in my experience. If you do a test drive, bring a tire gauge and make sure the demo is inflated to 33 psi cold tire pressure, just to make sure the demo vehicle is going to be the same as one you purchase.

rented a Nissan Maxima to drive today and in anticipation of replacing the Genny also test drove an Accord. On the same roads there was absolutely no bouning, bucking or anything like that. I did not feel bumps or pitch with every bump, ridge or undualtion. I can tell you if the Genny rode like either of those I'd be a happy camper. It's depressing cause I do not like the look of those other cars but the ride is so much more agreeable. I will miss the genny in so many ways.
