  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla CyberTruck

I cant stand these oversized golf carts, but then again I'm a gear head who loves the smell of Nitro Methane and tire smoke in the morning, but I digress... however I'd argue that the G70 was rushed to market and also isnt ready for prime time. Parts are scarce, wait times are ridiculous (parts have to come from S.Korea), dealerships are clueless how to work on them, majority of dealerships arent equipped or refuse to honor the valet and loaner services, reliability is questionable (sunroof issues, trans issues, rattles, electrical issues, paint and trim issues, etc...).

In my opinion, Genesis is on the verge of meeting criteria for a class action suit for false advertising when considering many of us decided to buy one due in large part to the promise of valet service, loaners, and an overall carefree ownership experience which by all accounts including admission to me by a Genesis rep that they have recieved multiple complaints but have no control over the dealerships' unwillingness to honor the services as advertised.
I'm confident that eventually most gear heads will change their tune about electric cars. Like any "new" thing, it has to go through the progression of tech advances before it reaches a point where it is acceptable in the mainstream. As much as I love to get my hands dirty, I'm sure gear heads will still pick up a laptop and start tinkering there instead once electric vehicles are sufficiently advanced.

Speaking of expensive Tesla parts, it sounds like aftermarket parts manufacturing for a Tesla would be highly profitable if someone had the know how and tools to do it.

I wouldn't say that just yet as Genesis/G70 is a brand new model and brand, but it does seem to be heading in that direction. I'll give em another year before passing my judgement

Agreed. I've been amazed at how hot rod enthusiasts have embraced aftermarket electronic fuel injection over old school carbs. Yes, the Holley four barrel still lives, but most new builds are putting on (rather expensive) fuel injection setups, even on older motors. I get a kick out of seeing the mechanics in the garage with their laptops. Similar to the tuners, changing software settings instead of jets. Much easier and faster.

idk about that. i mean what are you going to tinker with ? no air , no fuel, no o2 snsr,no upgrading intake, exhaust , headers, cams, no opening that motor up letting it breathe and creating that sound , thats fun ....as a enthusiast part of that is what makes tuning / modding fun is to figure out things like that, when you put intake or exhaust ect.... makes you feel some type of way , you say to your self ' sounds / feels so much better". with your EV what you going to change your voltage, charging speed?

but thats not the same as going from ICE to EV.

An EV is basically just a giant circuit. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you could (eventually) mod. Like I said, EV's aren't mainstream yet. ICE cars didn't have mods from day one either.

Something I found but didn't read/watch:
Here's How You Can Tune Electric Cars for More Power

idk bro but, still no sound. cant beat the sound of a muscle v8 or turbos spooling and bov sounding after each gear. the sweet sounds like a symphony orchestra! 👌

This... no matter what, the sound and fury of a powerful engine cant be replicated with circuits, capacitors, or electricity.

Oh come on, you mean that humming and whirring doesn't get the adrenalin going? Lol
Hey, look on the bright side, you've still got the screeching tires and burning rubber 😉

My wife drives a hybrid strictly for MPG due to 100 mile per day commute. It has speakers that pipe out an operatic, ethereal song when in gear in EV mode. I have to cover my face to drive it. It is embarrassing. I guess it's some new safety law that requires silent vehicles to generate sound so folks are aware of the moving vehicle.

NOPE, you will never get that fulfillment.

Yes, it is a safety issue with EVs and hybrids. When we would drive my wife's hybrid in the city or a parking lot, we were always having to wait for pedestrians to get out of the road because they couldn't hear it coming up behind them and I didn't want to be an ass and honk.

SMH , ill do donuts around a tesla untill my gas is empty and full up in 5 min and continue my donuts all over again all in the same hour. ;):ROFLMAO:

Mmmm, nice. I can smell the unburnt hydrocarbons from here. 😁
I have to admit that firing up my '69 302 Z/28 for the first time in the Spring was always a special moment.

When I was 14 and racing slot cars I would rewind the armature for nearly unlimited speed. On track control was difficult though. Is this what I could do with Tesla?

on another forum we always use blue to indicate irony, sarcasm.)

thats low miles for a 14
Over 20,000km a year doesn't seem that low but maybe. Either way, it is out of warranty but has still been reliable. My wife's Grand Cherokee has less miles and is in the shop way more often.

I did get to drive the Mach-E hence my statement, have also driven the Model 3, X and S. The Mach-E IMO is like a combination of the 3 and X, it is much more agile than and handles better than the X IMO, drives more like a sports sedan as it has a wider and lower center of gravity than the X, its handling is very close if not better than the Model 3 from my limited experience, the X is taller and more of truck/suv ride.

I agree the interior of the Mach-E is very nice.

also agree it should not have been called a Mustang, I see what Ford was going for in the name, but I think the name is a miss. the vehicle itself will be a hit IMO, 1/2 the price of a Model X with similar and in some areas better performance and options.
I am jealous you had a chance to drive one. I am glad to hear you liked it. I have driven the Model X and really dislike it. I do think the Mach E will be one of the best electric options to date once it is out.

Like I said before, I am still not quite ready for it even though there is lots that is appealing about them. I still like all the things others here have mentioned about ICE cars that are hard to give up. :)

I want one for commuting, I have 40 solar panels and only makes sense to save my gas money for my fun cars.

I want the electric for commuting and Gen 8 Corvette Convertible for weekends and going out..

dodge, jeep, ect…... aren't to reliable to begin with.
I have 89k miles on my 2015 santa fe no issues at all , i just do regular maintenance and I bet my maintenance invoices and gas receipts since Ive own the suv still wont add up to that price tag of $100k for a tesla s.
