  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Gets All The Gadgets

We will have to wait and see which KDM features make into the US models. It is possible that all of them will make it, but that was not the case for the 2009-2014 Genesis.

Minimally, the tech features filed being demonstrated in the car at CES with the new Nav head end and device connectivity will be here. I am less interested in self-parking, active speed control, and radar nanny capability so their absence here would be fine. With the targeted competitors offering most of those things, I suspect they will be here.

Obviously, most of them will be there. Most of them are there now.

Which of those mentioned or shown in the videos do you think will NOT make it here? I would see all of those in the article being available in US market - as you point out some are already on the car in some form and the others (ex. HUD) are past cutting edge.

I don't really know. I was just going by past history, and the very high price tags of the 2015 KDM versions.

Does the 2015 model come with a quarterly fuel allowance?
My 2013 has been in the shop 4 times in 6months and goes in again next week..
Hyundai -> Overall Reliability -> Somewhat Flakey""
However lovely the car is, long term expectancy in the electronics department is somewhat iffy.....
My ex Azera was a delight, in nearly 3 years of ownership I never saw the service department except for regular servicing and a one time stop to have the battery replaced under warranty.. The same goes for our Accents & Elantra's..
Attn - Hyundai -> You are missing the boat..........
The Genesis is YOUR Flagship - Get it Right........

You mean Equus right?

The Equus cannot be purchased via a regular Hyundai dealership...........

I don't know where you are getting that information but Hyundai dealerships in Arizona have been selling Equus since their introduction.

I have to chime in too...what are you talking about?

Hyundai imposes conditions on dealers as to whether they can sell Equus or not. Dealers who also carry brands other than Hyundai cannot sell Equus, and there are a bunch of facility requirements that must be met. Some dealers qualify and some don't.

According to Ricky Lao, Hyundai Motor America's senior product planning manager for premium rear-wheel-drive cars [as of mid 2013]:

Of Hyundai's approximately 800 U.S. dealers, about 400 dealers sell the Equus . Those dealers represent about 75 percent of Hyundai's U.S. sales volume for all Hyundai models. [that means that the larger volume dealers are more likely to sell the Equus].

2 of the dealers near me are not authorized by Hyundai NA to sell the Equus. They are selective. The Equus is the flagship. The Genesis is a nice car.

That is a bit different than "The Equus cannot be purchased via a regular Hyundai dealership...........".

As time goes on the flagship changes. Azera was once, then the Genny, now (very recently) the Equus.

I've also been experiencing periodic electrical issues (my cousin's G37 was giving him some electrical hell before it was wrecked). Leads me to shy away from new gadgetry (perhaps this is simply too much car for my liking, but damn it's such a nice car).

All dealerships that sell the Equus are required to have a separate showroom which can also have the Genesis in it but no other vehicles. Equus owners, should they actually come to the dealer for maintenance have their own sitting area, TV, coffee etc. inside of this building.

From what I read, the exact words are "a separate showroom, or separate showroom within a showroom."

I kind of wonder about whether every Equus dealer really has a separate waiting room for owners that come to the dealership for service, since concierge service (free pickup and delivery) is included in sales price, and they offer free loaners for others, and dealers who sell the Equus only sell about 8 per year, so seems like it would be rarely used. If so, it must be a small waiting room.

Must be different rules here in Canada. The dealership I go to is an Equus dealer too and has all models mixed together in one showroom. An Equus and a Genesis are in the middle of the room with all different models surrounding. There is one moderate size waiting area that is part of the sales floor for all to use. I can not see any separate area for Genesis and or Equus.
