Getting familiar with the group...
I have put over 1000 miles on the Equus now and have come across a few things that are different than the 2010 Genesis I had before. Not just accessory features but things that are a little different and not in the brochure. Thought i would share -
1. The keyless entry - has the same key FOB but the doors open just by touching the handle of the door. No need to push the black button. I am still getting used to this because I question whether I have truly locked the car.
2. The mirrors fold electronically. If you push the lock button on the FOB twice quickly, the mirrors fold in. I don't think I can set them to fold automatically when I stop the car - at least I cant figure out how.
3. There does not seem to be a key FOB holder in the car to use if your battery in the remote dies. If there is one, I have not found it yet.
4. The phonebook works! I could never get the phonebook to download on the iphone 4 with my 2010 Genesis 4.6 Tech. Now it works flawlessly. There are more options to choose in the Equus DIS - most of them for car settings like suspension. There is an option in the phone address menu to "download phone book". I dont remember that in the Genesis. Works great.
5. On the dash cluster there is a color screen that gives trip information, etc. like the Genesis. What is new is the color directions and turn indicators that are shown in the cluster LCD when using the NAV system. Very similar to my previous '07 Merc E350. Nice touch.
Overall the car drives very nicely and is smooth with the same wonderful acceleration of the Genesis. The feel of the car is definitely "bigger" - similar to the difference you would feel test driving an E class, then immediately testing an S class. Feels more sporty than the wife's LS430 but many of the same characteristics.
Only problem so far is a few paint nicks on the the rear door sills. Both in the same place on either rear door. I saw in the Genesis forum that there were a few complaints about soft paint in that area. Will get the dealer to take a look at it when I go back to get the ipad manual.
Any other surprising features anyone has found?
