  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone. Hopefully someone out there can help me get to the bottom of this.

I have a 09 Genesis 4.6 sedan. I bought a set of 19" Genesis coupe wheels/tires with factory TPMS sensors already installed and the TPMS system has never sync'd up properly. Every time I take it to the dealer for service I ask them to see whet they can do. Usually they reset it which fixes it until i drive it for a couple miles and then the TPMS light comes on again.

In the beginning just the TPMS sensor came on which didn't bother me. Then it started reading low pressure in a wheel, then a second and now a third. With the bad pressure reading, it takes over my computer display and all i see is flashing tires. I continually check the pressure in the tires and it is fine.

The last time I took it to the dealer they told me that the TPMS sensor in the wheels isn't working anymore and they need to be replaced for $400+. I find that hard to believe and just think the dealer is selling me a line of BS.

I'm taking it in next week for service, any experience or help anyone can offer me would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

The TPMs should auto sync. I have a 2011 Genesis Sedan that I purchase a new set of tires and wheels for.
I purchased TPMs from Southwest Auto Parts 801-664-2514 for $21.25 each. Installed them on the rims, put the tire on and placed wheel and tire on car.
That was in June of this year and haven’t had a problem.

When I was looking for new wheels I did buy new TPMS devices for the wheels thinking I was going to need them but then I bought the coupe wheels with the TPMS already installed. I guess it would be a last ditch effort to replace the TPMS on all 4 wheels. Don't really want to spend the money is it's not needed. The dealer also told me that they need to reset the system if you change wheels out. I think this was the case on the 2009's and that changed on the 2010 or 2011.

As far as the tire pressure goes I've checked it plenty of times and is where it should be.

So I took it to the dealer and finally got to the bottom of this issue. Apparently the TPMS sensors on the coupe are not compatible with the sedan. So to fix my problem I need to get new sensors put into my wheels. At least I know my options now.
