  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

US dealers who actually have the G70 available for sale.

I just contacted 5 Dealers in OC here in So Cal asking about the G70. Two of them ran a locater and said NO cars in a 200 mile radius of Southern Cal. No Cars in a 200 mile radius?? HMMM. Unbelieveable, as the Hdq. is right off the 405 in Fountain Valley. They did say cars are at the port, can't be released for sale yet. If that is true, are dealers in No. Cal selling cars yet, are they separate Genesis stores? All the 5 dealers down here do show Hyundai/Genesis together at 1 store. Any info appreciated.. Thank-you

The last update we received is that Genesis is not licensed to franchise in California so no 2019 models can be sold there.

I just purchased the G70 3.3 Design edition in Black Forest green.... it is beautiful. And fast. For me it was worth the wait....
BTW, a dealer in Marlton, NJ has several G70's. - Burns Genesis.

When you have a chance, can you post the date of manufacture for it? Thanks

The HQ is just an office, not a factory and with the franchise legalities not settled yet, no cars at a dealer. No CA and So CA are still the same state so no advantage there either. Cars in the ports will move to other states. Maybe it would be better if you did split the state.

Second that. Could you please post the manufacturing date?
If it is not on the door...look for the 19-digit VIN which might be under the hood (closer to windshield) or under the carpeting in front of the driver's seat.

OK - I found it: May 14, 2018. That grey-green color is amazing... looks different depending on the light.
I don't think that is too bad. Mid-May...then it sits for a bit...then on a long boat journey...then sit at the port for a bit (perhaps a bit too long)...then truck to dealer...then sat a bit at dealer :) :)

I would NOT be concerned.

And...that is hot looking. Wonder if those side vents are functional? Just joking.

Yeah it's not too bad at all. My GTI was an April 2006 build and I got it August 28th 2006. Aside from the front rotors being warped and being replaced under warranty at 10k, everything else TSB and recall related was not related to it sitting before I bought it. And it's still going 12+ years later and 155k of hard miles haha.

I’ve been in regular contact with two dealers in OC that have “Genesis” on their building along with “Hyundai.” Their sales staffs, while pleasant and well-intentioned, know even less than most of the regulars on this forum. As a California resident, you are aware of how difficult it is to do business in this state. Given that the DMV is involved...well...it’s apparently a very long and prolonged process for Genesis to be approved by the state as a regsitered auto manufacturer. Wish there was more info.

The Genesis people at the OC Auto Show last weekend, who I think were not actually Genesis employees, knew even less that the dealer sales people. One was actually arguing with me that there were no G70s for sale in the US. Rather than show him the cars.com listings for New Jersey and Georgia, I just waked away.

Absoluetely correct, Ed.

LA and San Francisco can be their own states and the other 56 counties can stay California.

The two cars on display at the OC Auto show are now on their way across I-15 to Henderson Genesis in Nevada.

Thank you for the info Ed's. So will the Dealers remain Hyundai and Genesis or split separately? Dealers here thought they would remain able to sell both brands. Approval's by Dec or earlier. Seems kind of insane especialy with Corp. Hyundai Hdq. here. Good info here..

They eventually will become separate dealerships. They can be in the same building, but will have a separate showroom. Not all Hyundai dealers will be selling Genesis, it is being pared down to about 400.

No...they have to (eventually) be a separate building.

Just as an example. I contacted the four closest Hyundai dealers to me and none of them have chosen to be a Genesis dealer. There are a couple more I need to check with (about 60 miles away) but the closest Genesis dealer to me is 89 miles.

So...if you buy...what do you think the concierge service will be like? Do they have a distance requirement? In theory...if you need an oil change...they should come and get you...or they come and leave a loaner. Will they be doing that 89 mile trip? To add...will they be flat bedding (as they should)?

There is a 60 mile limit to the valet service. If I would buy I would try and get them to waive that and pick up my car. I highly doubt that will do it or flatbed. I will probably just take it to my local independent to get the service done. My Acura dealer is about 70 miles away, was only ever there once in 10 years to get a recall item done.

I guess I can count myself lucky. One Genesis dealer is about 6 miles from me...other is about 15 miles. Of course...neither of the dumbasses got their paperwork together in due time...so neither of them are selling yet. As of today...neither have a dealer license to sell in VA.
