  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

V-6 vs. V-8

After reading the rest of the posts in this thread, I think Marylandrauder prefers a relatively soft ride. I determined that especially from his comments about the new Toyota Avalon (as well as other comments).

Many professional auto reviewers have commented that the 2015 V8 Ultimate in standard ride mode (it has adjustable suspension), has a softer ride than the V6 (non-adjustable suspension). Most reviewers favored the V6 even over the V8 in sport mode setting, because they thought it was better balanced. So I can see how someone would think that the V8 standard mode suspension was softer and more comfortable than the V6. However, many on this forum (and the automotive press in general) prefer something a little more firm and sporty than the standard V8 suspension setting.

Likewise, many in the automotive press are raving about the new Avalon, which no longer drives like a large boat (that has been characteristic of many large American cars over the years).

You obviously have not been in the new Avalon, rides like a brick. Really stiff and jittery ride. my 2010 Genesis felt like a cloud in comparison, really. I like the car but the ride was no less than horrendous.

As for the Azera and nice ride I have not seen a review yet that paises it, in fact it seems to be the biggest negative. This is a quote from the first google search I did.

"When it comes to the Azera's overall ride and handling, things are not so rosy. Hyundai's electric power steering lacks feel and the Azera's suspension, while comfortable over smooth surfaces, is easily unsettled over rough or choppy pavement. Toss in the 19-inch wheels that come standard with the Premium Package and the Azera's ride goes from acceptable to harsh, but with no return of improved grip or cornering."

Some people like a soft cushy ride, and there is nothing wrong with that. Toyota has obviously moved in a different direction to be more like German cars, and time will tell if that pays off for them.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You Tube is full of Azera video that suggest the reviewers like the ride and features. Yes, there are comments about the steering (one review said the car could wander) but the 8 or so reviews agree with my experience. I invite you to go back and see what is on You Tube.:D

Soft ride-100% correct and let's not forget $, size, speed, and regular gas. So those out there do not think I do not enjoy a "sporty ride" - I do, but I also enjoy a car that will suit my wife.

I have a Mercury Marauder that the Genesis 5.0 is not in the same league with when it comes to speed and thrills. Having said that, I am looking for a car that takes me back to the days when a softer ride in nice surroundings was the norm.

If this opinion shakes some of you up then you should have heard the comments on my Marauder site when I announced that I wanted to get a new Genesis !!

There are many cars and many car lovers-for those of you I disappointed in not picking the 5.0 Genny, be happy I stayed in the Hyundai family and picked the Azera.:grouphug:

Ok, I am huge Panther platform fan. And have three of them. I believe your opinion has a few flaws if you Re saying the Genny is not in a higher league (instead lower) than a Marauder.. You would have stated you had a Trilogy, if you had one. That is the only potential two tier down from the Genny that could come within any close proximity to a Genesis. No matter what metric one uses the Marauder has no chance.

I get it you have a attachment to the big Panther platform. So do I. And even Trilogy #14 cannot hold a candle to the first gen Genny with 5.0. Any low mileage Marauder does have some bling factor on collectibility. So does, do not laugh, my rare 5.0 non R-spec. Not many made.

Good things about cars. They are like Doritos, many more with different flavors will be made. So, enjoy your pride on your Panther... Better than a Genny, no.

As for the ignorant in the other forum... Anyone who does back to back rides with me one following the other between my or their Panther based twin cams and my first gen Genny, Trilogy or not, come away ending their crap attitude.

And if any Marauder fan wants to attempt to pick apart the Genny, I know all the flaws they think they can hide..

Again, I love both platforms, and have money in both. First or second gen Genny has the edge..
