  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Video of my prototype Magnaflow exhaust set up!!!!!!

I'm putting on two maganflow mufflers today, in an effort to quiet my current custom set-up down. I hope mine isn't as loud as yours. Not that it doesn't sound good, just not how loud I want to go, with this car.

What part number mufflers did you use?

I'll take some pictures and make a new video of mine today, so you can hear the difference between the current exhaust (not stock) and then the maganflow.

My old Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 had a sweet ass stock exhaust sound. I find the stock Genesis a little weak in that department. If I had the extra dough, I'd put a little sound into it.

What are you guys spending on parts/labor for new exhausts? I know it will vary but just wondering.

the parts and labor for the exhaust work came to $300.00

I spent another $300.00 for the black chrome Schnell Porsche tips I added to it.with less expensive tips, you should be able to get everything done for less than $500.00

Nice look Scotttisha. I also love your license plates!

This is interesting. It sounds identical to my magnaflow setup with just the mufflers and tips changed. I'm sure the airflow is better from your catback setup though. I like your setup and would like to see closer pics of your exhaust tips. Maybe I can get a hold of tips with the offset which would fit better then what I have. So in other words....I'm Jealous:)

My setup cost was $120 for install I think. I'd have to look in my other thread to verify.

EDIT: The cost of $120 was correct for install.

Wow.that certainly does have a mean sound!! I love when the car takes off. Doubt the wife will go for that. :(

It is actually not all that loud guys. It has a nice rumble at wide open throttle but cruising noise is very good. At over 2k rpm, it is as quiet as stock. I'll take detail pictures of the exhaust this weekend if it does not rain. I looked underneath the car and the piping system is top notch. The quality is in the work. I have to give it up to Magnaflow

OK...new mufflers are in...big difference in cabin noise. (greatly reduced)

heres a few pics.

As you can see, mine is not cat=back.

here's a picture of the tips...the inlet is off center, which dictated the off set style muffler>

well i went on the Magnaflow website & saw the price for the catback system for the coupe i would really like to know the price for the sedan, i already have a magnaflow setup on my genesis ( 2 magnaflow mufflers w/ magnaflow exhaust tips ) & i love the sound so does everyone else because they keep asking me about my exhaust, but im interested in the catback system after listening to the video they have posted for the sedan , oh and by the way i had the VIP system premuim porsche style exhaust tips from korean auto imports.com & i had a serious RUST PROBLEM with those tips to the point where i had to send em back so beware.

Interesting about those tips....I wondered about the quality of them and that led me to go with the Schnell tips. Schnell also has my tips in regular chrome, for those that want the bright finish.

I don't think Magnaflow has a cat-back system for the sedan. At least, not that I had found. Honestly, It would probably only cost another $200-$300 to have my exhaust guy remove the existing cat-back stuff and replace it with straight pipe and a x-pipe transition. The 2nd set of cats on our cars do not have any O2 sensors in them, so removing them shouldn't create any check-engine-light issues...
If I were trying to get some more hp and not too worried about sound, I would remove the 2nd set of cats, remove the factory x-pipe/muffler (the pre-muffler), maybe keep the exhaust pipe to no more than 2 1/4" in diameter, install one of magnaflow's x-pipes and leave the current mufflers I have in the rear (the magnaflows)
I think, at this point, I'm really happy with the exhaust, now that I removed the Bullets and added the Magnaflows in my pictures, so I doubt I will do anything else to it. I know one thing though, because of how good my exhaust guy is at doing custom stuff, I would probably never pay for a complete system. I never have with my past cars and it's never been an issue. My guy has done my race car (back when I raced in SCCA ITA) and at least 6 previous street cars, including my old 2002 VW GTI with 320hp. I used a 3" Magnaflow on that car and it sounded great.

I have not dyno'd my car. I may, out of curiosity, but it's not a priority for me right now.
