  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Weapon R - Genesis Sedan Product Development

Sorry we have been busy and have gotten backed up but it should be here soon

The 5.0 has a small spacer tube that takes the place of the MAF on the 4.6. This was talked about on the other thread about a CAI from someone else. He also posted pictures.

So are you working on a true CAI or just another cone intake tube?

The intake will look similar to what we have posted, it will be the intake large filter and the filter shield.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
So not a CAI. Just another tube with a filter that makes more noise sunking in hot under hood air.

Sorry but I'm just calling what it really is. It's not a Cold Air Intake.

so WR anything is line for the 3.8's?

Crusty Old Shellback - That's fine you are free to your opinion on how well something works without trying it. Just remember it kit does come with the shield and ram air kit.

adihere - which model do you have? we do have one for the 2010-2012 3.8L

Unfortunately there aren't many alternatives (not purchasing is your alternative).

Below the stock air box is the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPS). There is no easy way to run an intake pipe down below the bumper to pull in colder air.

I applaud WR's effort in trying to bring aftermarket support to this platform.

OK, WR, make a beleiver out of me then. Show/tell us where you are getting the cold air from and how it is being used as a ram air?

From the picrures you have posted, it's nothing different from what everyone else is making/selling. I have the same type of set up on my truck. Even with the "shield" if you want to call it that, it's still pulling in hot underhood air. I also designed a true RAM air system for my Pontiac G8 and for my '90 Chevy truck and am building one for my '87 Chevy truck. So yes, I have used them.

Unless you have a snorkel that goes to the front of the car or under the front end, to draw in high pressure air, it's not a CAI or a RAM air system.

You may have gained a few HP on a dyno but that is subjective. A little different temp, humidity, etc can make a few HP gains/losses.

The biggest thing you have done is gotten rid of the sound canceling device built into the stock box. So people "perceive" they have more power since they can now "hear" it.

Hey bussiness is bussiness. You do what you have to to make a buck. But at least call it what it is, not what it is not. From the pictures you posted of your system, It's a tube with a filter, nothing more, nothing less. There is no Cold Air Intake or Ram Air system involved.

Now if you want to try and build something like that, take a look at the Vararam system. They have taken cars with very little room under the hood and developed a over the radiator system to draw in outside cold air as well as use it in a RAM air effect. On some cars, they have been able to lay the radiator back some to achieve this. On others, they have found different ways to get the air.

I'd love to see a true CAI/RAM Air system for our cars. But to take full advantage of them, we also need a good free flowing exhaust system and a tuner for the computer to use all of that air to the maximum extent.

'13 3.8 but I believe the '12+ are the same car, no?

Crusty the pictures we posted do not have the ram air kit installed. Your view on what we make is fine you can dismiss our intake and even talk down about it, its your right so if it makes you feel better then go ahead.

I'm not talikng down or dismissing your products.

I'd like to see a true CAI for our cars. A Ram Air would be even better. But you seem to continue to skirt the issue and attack me saying I'm talking down your systems.

So if you do have a ram air system for our cars, please post pictures.

So their "RAm Air" kit is a "custom" plastic corragated hose that you have to try and find a place to stick it.

OK, I took a close look at my '12 R Spec. It comes from the factory with a Cold Air Intake Over The Radiator Ram air system.

So they removed all of that and put in a big tube and filter.

Crusty is absolutely right about the CAI. I would love to see the Ram Air setup that has been made for the G8 used as a starting block for our cars. Anyone can go buy a big filter and some tubing online and say its an awesome intake. I would happily pay $500+ for a real CAI and not running some crazy hose through my engine bay trying to snake my way to a cone on a tube. Weapon-R, I commend you on showing the car some love but lets show it some real love and make a quality product that everyone will spend their hard earned money on.

uploadfromtaptalk1393627671622.webp let's get it!

Now that setup looks like it works really, really good...lol....if we could get are gennys to adapt that design..wow!!! ...:D

It worked well for my car before going force induction. I was going to have them made for genesis but it seems nobody was in the area, west coast for mock

WR, what are your thoughts of creating a ram air system like above. Our cars has the room for a smaller version... There is already some ram air device from factory
