  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok, had some free time today and I though I would try dragy for the first time. Keep in mind, I had 3/4 tank of fuel and some junk stuff inside the trunk + my backpack with a Nikon gear, that's another ~20lb. lol

That's a AWD 4600lb. pig 0-60=4.7sec. not bad I'd say ;)

I thought bone stock was already in the 4.7 sec range?

You're talking about G70 3.3tt which weigh ~700 lb. less than G80.
The G80 sport and 5.0 are in the same range of 5sec. I'm confident if I'd have 1/8 tank of fuel and better launch, I'd be at around 4.5sec. All done with Map2 and 93 octane.
If I had fuel wires and E85 added, I would probably get it done to ~4.2sec.

I'll try Map3 next time. Some guys says they run on 93 octane/Map3 w/o any problems.

Ok, finally..... here are some numbers, car is stock, except the spark plugs. Recommended by Terry, I changed them to Denso 5346 and the car runs on 93 octane.

1st. pull was without the tune, so it was bone stock

2nd. pull - Map1

3rd. pull - Map2

All 3 pulls were in "Sport Mode" ....the car pulls like crazy now, a ~100tq more means something! lol

These are pretty impressive numbers, especially when compared to what we got on the 5.0 BTR flash cost and the hassle to get us there.
Well done my man, nicely done.(y)

Has anyone installed the JB4 on the 2.0T? Curious if it's worth paying 500 bucks when I may only get 20 or so more WHP.

Also does the spark plug issue also apply to the 2.0 where I am going to have to regap them?

In the pictures (second one I believe), do you know what the "0-60(1ft)" time is?? Is that supposed to be corrected time for if you were at 1ft above sea level?

Also, I'm not familiar with Dragy, but is that simply using the GPS coordinates and change rate to calculate? Or is it somehow tying into your car to know the speed?

BTW, I have the G80 Sport in the Polar Ice color, which I felt looked the best overall with the titanium chrome and copper accents, but I have to say your's in that red all blacked out looks freaking awesome!

Probably means 1 foot rollout. At the strip the clock doesn't actually start the second tour car is moving it starts when both pre-stage and stage light beams are no longer blocked by your front tires.

It doesn't tie into the vehicle it just uses GPS and I think an internal accelerometer as well but I forget its been a long time since I've used my dragy and/or read about it.

I think Terry@BMS would answer those questions about Dragy. After all, that's their product.

Edit;
Actually, it isn't their product. They're selling it. Dragy Motorsports

(thanks @Beefer ;) )

Hi All! I'm considering getting a G80. From what I'm reading, this won't have any impact on the 3.8L V6 engine since its N/A (Naturally Aspirated)

Assume I got a KIA Stinger GT (3.3T), or a G80 3.3T: Would this JB4 mod void the warranty?

You remove it prior to going to the dealer. Less than 5 minutes.

Sounds good. So if my car blows up on the side of the road, I should have a " JB4 removal kit" in the trunk

Why do you need a kit? Remove 2 connectors and remove the JB4 from under your hood before the tow truck comes.

Cuz I don't know anything about this kit? Dont even own the car yet lol

No confirmation of spark plug blowout on the 2.0t as far as I could find. You don't have to replace if you're on Map1. But as far as power increase, it will be 4psi boost over stock on the lower rpms which is apparently 1psi = 1whp. So about 40whp or around ~55hp at the crank. As far as torque goes, the answer I got is it would be thereabouts as well but I suspect the torque increase will be much more.

Ok....since I added the fuel wires, I could also add/mix some of E85+93 octane and run some 0-60's again....as you know, so far, my best time is 4.42sec. after that, I was wondering what have I gained after mixing the fuel?

Well, I got lucky today, as they normally require an appointment a week or two in advance. But they decided to take me in, as they were interested what those cars/engine are capable of.... So here are the numbers....

1st. picture - my first session in October last year, I was running on 93 octane. ..... Map 0 then Map 1 and Map 2

2nd . picture (today) ~30% of E85+93 octane ..... Map 0 then Map 3 and Map 5

3rd. picture shows only best times of both session.

As of now, I'm pushing 414WHP and 481WTQ! with let say...15% drive-train loss, I should be at ~476HP/553TQ ??? some tuners say, the loss is even greater, more like 20-25%

1st session.webp2nd session.webpbest of 1 and 2.webp

Nice gains. Definitely worth the money for the JB4. I want one even more now. But no two Dynos will show the same numbers. They should only be used to measure gains percentage from stock.
There's no way your stock torque to the wheels were 361 if the specs are 376 to the crank.
I say optimistically that at the crank it is 450HP/490TQ now with your fuel mixture. Lots more parasitic loss in AWD.

If there was a way to prove it, I would do it. For now, I'll stick to whatever tuner say, lol

You'll be chasing your tail. Lol. I had a friend who dynoed his STI at 4 different places and they were all different numbers. But the gains % from tune vs non tune on all 4 was extremely close.
Do you have an aftermarket intake at the moment?

Oh, I'm not saying that those numbers are accurate 100%. But the gain in HP/TQ is pretty much the same, is being reported across the country by Stinger members with the same engine, even Burger Motorsport posted them on their website, they might be off ~5-10hp/tq but that's it.

No intake. There isn't anything out there that would work for G80 sport. It's ok, I'm not planing to get one. The JB4 tune itself is more than enough, lol ;)

Does the Stinger have the same differentials as the G80 or is the G80 beefier?
I think the G80 would be the ultimate sleeper car if it could shed about 500lbs.
