  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I modded the useless (to me) ashtray into a very functional coin holder (or whatever). I removed the metal trim ring from the molded plastic part and with my Dremel tool, cut off the snuffer tabs from the metal trim ring. I used a couple cutting discs (they're very fragile) and a grinding bit to do the work. Also replaced the push-in lighter with a USB power outlet I bought on eBay for under a dollar. A lot of wasted space now useful.

The flash of the camera reveals what appear as rough edges, but it's smooth to the touch, and looks perfect when blinding light is not on it.

+1:cool: Good news....they still stick well over 140 mph:D

The difference is staggering! The car handles better, mpg is up by 5 (even in the city), depreciation has stopped, downforce at 140mph generates tons of confidence and the top end is easily +10mph.

:p

But honestly, I just liked the look, and the price was right.

Also, RSPEC429 wanted pix, so here they are. We'll see how they turn out when shrunk to meet the file reqmts.

Lol:D Looks good - mine is holding up well and really give the car a nice look for something so small. Nice work:cool:

I bought my Genny a filter/water softener present for the holidays so I would have an easier time with water spots. It is 2 stages (filter then softener). Vinegar works, but this should be waaaay better.

Is that some kind of hose attachment? I dont think I've seen those around St. Louis, but then again our water is soft and generally outstanding.

Yea, you hook your hose to it. I got it here:

disclaimer: I am not endorsing these folks (I don't even have it yet to say how well it works), this is simply just a link for info.

My water is on the low end of moderately hard at 70mg/l, but it has noticeable calcium when drying.

What a great idea!
Thanks for sharing.
I’m going to do this mod tomorrow. :D

What sight did USB post come from?

The thing I did for my Genesis today was to order her an ITB-100HD:

I've been tracking the BlackVue DR400G-HD for a couple of years now, but I didn't jump on it a while back when it was $180 bucks, and now the cheapest ones are $270!

The Itronics cost me $180 on Ebay. Should take a couple of weeks to get it from Korea. I'll post pics of the install, and hopefully some onboard videos too!

I'm in the process of detailing the interior.

I started off with vac-cumming, moved on to the cleaning and stripping the interior panels of the old protectant with a diluted mixture of Optimum Power Clean. I just now got through applying Leatherique's Rejuvinator Oil and I'll let it sit overnight. Tomorrow, I'll finish it off with some Prestine Clean; I'm also going to put PC on the leather/vinyl finishes that are on the door panel and dashboard. The rest of interior, I'll dress up with some 303.

Don't rub that dashboard too hard. The leather is very thin.

The first Genesis "I almost bought" was delivered to me by car carrier from Pohanka Hyundai in Salisbury, Maryland. I guess they figured I was blind and stupid. They told me the car was in perfect condition, however , the dashboard had a nasty slash in it, as well as a dent in the left rocker panel. Needless to say, that titanium 3.8 made a quick return trip to Maryland. This happened one year ago and I still wonder what poor sucker eventually bought that car. I ended up buying my keeper Genesis in Cary, North Carolina. It was difficult at that time to find the car of my dreams locally.

Hello,
I worked on my new 2012 3.8 Genesis Sedan today in Green Bay, WI and added a K and N filter, I rebadged the rear trunk and steering wheel badges with "Genesis" badges instead of the "flying butress" badges and changed out the license plate bulbs with LED bulbs. I have had my car for 600 miles and like it quite a bit.

I read many folks posts on the badges and thank you greatly for your advice as everything worked outstandingly.
I used the space heater to heat up my garage to 58 degrees and a hair dryer extensively to get things done quicker.

Frank

I'll be sure not to go too crazy on that leather :D

I purposefully stopped at a yellow light on my way home on a 55mph road this afternoon. Could have easily made the yellow, the 2 cars to my right went for and made it no problem. I wanted an excuse to clip off a 0-60mph run:cool:

Where did you get that spoiler from? The one from KAI looks ugly, I'm looking for a lip spoiler like that.

EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer from someone else who posted the question in this thread:

Hammer - Hopefully this thread answers your questions. Old thread, but descent info IMO. Carid.com, which is formally known as Woodview.com, and before that was exoticwooddash.com.:) They keep freakin' changing names.
