  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

That would be a great drive... Heck, I've been in Houston for 12 years and never driven much further west than San Antonio.

I had a 2006 TL - That was a great car. It had 120k on it and was still going strong... until an old lady pulled out in front of me at an intersection and totaled it!
My 2004 TL made it to 160K. It was a great highway car but the Genesis sedans I've owned have been even more comfortable and certainly felt more solid. G70 excluded, the Acura's steering felt more precise.

As for driving west of San Antonio, the Texas landscape changes pretty dramatically not far west of there. It aligns with the stereotypes of Texas: flat (until you hit the Pecos mountains anyway), arid, rural, oil pumps waving to you by the road, wind farms that go on for miles, that's Texas west of San Antonio. If you're into that sorta thing, you should spend a 3 day weekend down in Big Bend National Park: it's the only park in the nation that has its own self-contained mountain range. It will test your hiking acumen for sure (just don't go when it's too hot; it's basically desert.) And the radius of about 100 miles around Big Bend, avoid driving it at night. Lots and lots of suicidal critters (jack rabbits and javelinas by the literal thousands) like to hang out by the road, wait for your car to come, then decide to run in front of you at the last minute (ask me how I know). Sorry for the topic breach; I'll shut up now.

Man, I remember when I drove from Ft. Bliss to Ft Sam Houston back in 1995 in a 1992 Mazda Protege as a young soldier. The drive from El Paso to San Antonio was a lonely drive with nothing but dirt to look at while driving thru carved out hills hoping that I did not break down since the land was barren for miles and I had no cell phone. Back in 1995 there was not much to look at in Texas west of San Antonio. It had that "Hill Has Eyes" movie feel.

Drove it back home. 767 miles in 10 hours 15 minutes. Not bad ;)

Respectable. My old TL trip computer would also cough up average speed... For one 950 mi trip it was 81mph, including gas stops.

How did you black out the grill without disabling your radar sensor?

Damn, I did like the Decepticon Barricade in the Transformer movies, but this is taking it a bit far with Barricade's trademarked enslavement slogan. However, I actually love your Genesis overall look with the body color and black wheels plus the ignition button cover.

I do have a soft spot for anything Transformers.

Pulled the trigger on some new tires since the used 2015 I picked up is on the edge of not safe tread depth on the tires as it came from the lot. This will also be my first experience with a mobile installer and I'm looking forward to that based on reviews since the shops in my area seem to have one goal in mind when putting new tires on a vehicle, treat your rims like trash and a coin flip chance the tires are balanced well on the first attempt.

Mobile installer installed new Michelin tires in the parking lot of Hyundai dealership when I picked up the car over 2 years ago. I watched the whole process and would do it again with this guy as he was really good and precise. You should read some reviews and if they are good, just go for it. Photo Aug 22, 5 20 31 PM.webp

Also - loving the Sprintbooster. I don't like that it costs as much as it does but due to the lack of tuning options for the sedan I had to do something about the stock throttle mapping that was made by the NFL Hyundai Engineers (No Fun League). Now normal and Eco drive modes are very useable to me since I'm used to driving vehicles I tune myself and I prefer a crisper part throttle response.

I know! I didn't drive her for 8 days. Heavy powerful RWD car + 3" of ice/snow everywhere = bad.
I feel your pain,Markymark. I usually park my 5.0 in November and Bring it back out in April. Snow and Ice is a Normal for SD. Not to mention the rust causing chemicals they use on the highways!👎
