  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What have you Raced?

You don't see the point in a 429 hp street car? YOU SUCK. You probably wold be just fine if they limited cars to 70mph or better yet, I bet you would love the new cars that won't go over the speed limit.

YOU SUCK.

^^^ +1 weenies wanting to control us all never getting their fill of regulation power, given the chance.

True...yeah....let's be adults ...sigh.....just irks me to hear someone say we should not have 400 plus HP cars.....what is this? Nazi Germany? LOL

Okay, So i beat a Merc E500 the other day.....he had no chance.

Maybe not Nazi Germany.. With slide rules and pencils, that former nazi Von Braum created the Saturn V. Today, we have feminazis. Control us back to the stone age where we ride bicycles, they of the elite get jets for themselves. Like Google with their now 787s, and AlGore and his Boeing. [emoji90]

Look, the hidden agenda is always political. So geldings have power over us if given a chance. All under the cry for the nesting feminine term "safety!" Jefferson warned us about those busy bodies. Under guise of safety, we lose liberty and end up with tyranny. IF Mk19 had "harmed" someone, he would pay the price. He did not. We still do not live in Tom Cruise "pre-crime" Minority Report.. Not if some of us V8 owners have anything to do with it.

Ok, back to who has race who today...

Oh and to chime in on the environmental thing. If you own any car. No matter how fuel efficient they are, you can't say a word. You still are part of the "problem". Most people don't realize that up to 50% of the pollution associated with cars is produced by manufacturing them. Not just the driving them.

And anybody who thinks that owning a hybrid or an electric are kidding themselves. Take a gander at where Lithium comes from......

Let me enjoy my gas guzzling truck and my 400hp car.

We certainly agree on what you just said about environmental cost to make "green cars". Support global warming so we can all homestead in Greenland. Away from the busy bodies and possible create a new country they will want to infest and ruin what we created :) spew forth more CO2 and let's stop the ice sheets from growing in Greenland. Let's also send more fossil diggers there to find all the past life that live there when the earth was warm. And not one SUV was in sight.

Climate change is absolutely real. However. We have not "caused" anything. We may be speeding up the process a tad. However we are on a site about cars. And Cars are not the problem.

Cattle and livestock produce way more pollution than cars do. And the fact that a huge percent of our so called "recycling" ends up in landfills and isn't actually recycled at all. Anyways. Let's get back to talking about how ****in awesome our cars are.

Not to create a larger firestorm... Cattle? Really? Who else does the EPA now have regulations on that emits CO2 larger than any mammal out of their lungs. Why, we the people.. And now that thugs in EPA labeled all CO2 and methane as a pollutant, covering regulatory authority over anything or being that emits such dastardly gases, YOU are regulated. Your own flesh. Go look it up.. Good exercise. We are considered "revocable exempt" for the moment from having oxidizers being forced to sprout out of our rear methane emitter.. And at this time, there is no "lifetime CO2 body quota".

Talk about a thread degenerating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for a group hug. :grouphug:

Yeah it's the methane produced by the livestock as well that I was referring to.

Aaaaanyways lol now that we have successfully killed this thread.

Group hug.... [emoji127][emoji131][emoji253][emoji274]

Well, if we want to go there, the polar ice caps are shrinking. :D

I take it you mean on passing you on the left? Otherwise he's passing on the shoulder? Unless you are in Britain or Japan....

If somebody blocked me *while* I'm passing, I'd have been more than a little pissed, just on general principles. I'd have let him pass, and then maybe looked for a safer oppourtunity to pass him back, or otherwise show him my taillights.
No, he passed on the shoulder, well here in SoCal we would say that he was against the curb, that is why it shocked me as bad as he did, like who does that? So I accelerated to make the road a safer place, that way this kid wouldn't be driving against the curb.

Sorry, but 90 in a 35 is idiocy.

Every burst of speed is a story onto itself, is it technically against the law, yes it is. But you can be safe while doing it by picking a good place. The story I spoke of was in a good place. From one stop sign to the next was approximately 1/2 mile, the road is perfectly straight and in good condition, there are no businesses or homes on this stretch of road and you can see the entire length as to any pedestrians that are present due to brick walls on both sides of the street running the entire length. When the Mustang tried to pass against the curb there were no pedestrians and no cars coming the opposite direction, there could not have been a better time or place.

So 90 in a 35, smart, probably not, but with proper conditions it can be perfectly safe to do so.

Sounds more like the Kid was the idiot. trying to pass on the right/curb.

I had a car try that once, guess he thought he could pass me before the road went from 3 lanes to 2. The curb kind of stopped his progress as I just laughed at him.

haha...thanks...I said it out of frustration ...could have been a bit nicer. But seriously, who buys a 429hp car not to have a wee bit of fun now and then? Oh well....whatever.

An Acura the other day, not quite sure what even model it was wanted to race...I got her up to 60 in a 45 and noticed it wasn't ideal conditions to go any faster. I let the Acura fly by me. I have nothing to prove and if it's not ideal I'm going to be safe.

Next time...hehehe....

OK OK! I think we need a time out!....Get back to the topic or close the thread!
How did we as adults go from racing to Green cars, Kids in the street, Cattle and Polar icecaps?? If your thing is not racing then excuse yourself, exit stage right and move to the Discovery channel forum. If we are not responsible adults and cant handle a little fun
on a "Open Road" then you don't need a license. Open road means open...no kids, no traffic, no neighborhoods, no speed limits below 55mph. Yes it may possibly break the law. We "ALL" have done it at some point on 2,3,4 or 18 wheels. My grandmother and my kids race its in our its in our competitive DNA. Above all its a thrill to be wild sometimes, its good for you and its a stress reliever. The track is fun but not as spontaneous or thrilling. Any true "GearHead" knows this. I can only speak for my self but in over 20 years of driving I have never killed or hurt anyone. So please do not indulge in useless bickering over a topic you don't fit into. (Clean Version)

G'day mate! (Australian voice)

My argument wasn't against racing. I was just making a point of making sure you are safe doing it.
Absolutely have done it and will again. I just wait for it to be safe.

No problem sir. I understand. We need a group hug and some drinks. Some folks just need to chill. Forum topics should always be fun and informative. I personally gave my race results to show what the car was capable of performance-wise not to glorify street racing. Those days are behind me. Always remember " LIFE " is dangerous. You can get killed in a auto collision at a stand still at a stop light.

Oh absolutely. I hear you 100%. I gave my results as well. Speaking of which I roasted another mustang today. It was closer than the last one I ran. I got a better launch and held about a half car length to 100kph then I let off and he pulled in behind me and followed me with a single tear rolling down his cheek.
