  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

after wash/wiping the windscreen the excess dribbles over the mirrors leaving lots of 'spatter'.

edit: and blindspots in mirrors.

And why doesn't Hyundai provide either two more bolt holes for the bottom of the rear license plate or a bracket for it to sit in so the plate doesn't bounce off the paint every time I close the trunk? Plus the plate holder design should hold the plate PLUS DEALER FRAME off the paint. I installed spacers, but I'll bet most people don't. Again, to me this is design 101 type stuff.

If you look behind the plate there are two soft pads on the trunk located towards the bottom, which protects the paint.

I had your thought at first too, and I wanted to know how a luxury car made by Hyundai provided a solution for this, and I was impressed. The pads work great.

I have had the car for 18 months now with 18000kms on it. My biggest complaint is the bluetooth losing its connection, (connection interuption), and also the voice activation button gets all screwed up every time XM gives a free week of listening and then after the week is over the system locks up and or is extremely slow to respond (please wait) when using the voice control button. I am taking it in for its routine maintenance and will air my complaints.

Otherwise I LOVE MY CAR.

First let me say that I love my Genesis and this in no way deters from the fact that I think it’s a great car. It’s loaded with every option available. I can only say this having another car with very similar attributes (G35X). I miss two things on it. The driver memory system isn’t FOB smart. Regardless of which FOB is used if it’s a different driver he or she has to press the stored position button. My G uses distinct keys for this operation and I got used to it. The smart cruise option has no normal cruise use. My G because of its operation of disabling the intelligent cruise when the wipers are on does provide a normal cruise mode also. Small annoyances considering all the positive attributes.

I agree with you on the smart FOB, my Lexus has this and it is a nice feature.

But, I cannot understand why you would ever want a 'Normal' Cruise instead of the Smart Cruise?

Think about it. If you are going down the highway and no one is in front of you both the Smart and Normal cruise operate the same way.

If someone is in front of you with the Smart Cruise, the car automatically adjusts to the speed of the vehicle in front of you. With the 'Normal' cruise, you have to either re-set the cruise speed or turn it off by applying the brakes. With the Smart Cruise you can also do these things, if you want. But why would you?

What possible advantage do you see in a manual cruise control? - I am curious because I just finished a 1400 mile roadtrip and absolutely love the smart cruise.

I agree

Tracking of the adaptive cruise control is very cool even on a crowed 5 lane highway, the sensors turn with the headlights, lol

I also found that the adaptive cruise control applies brakes when coasting down a steep hill with no car in front, very cool

I agree on the smart FOB. My 99 Corvette has it and I can't fathom that Hyundai didn't build that in. My wife is shorter than I am and I hate getting crushed when I try to get in after she's driven the car. Fat chance I could ever get her to remember to reset the seat when she gets out....or me remember to push my button before I get in.

One of my complaints would be the the speed in which the light go off once the ignition switch is pressed. There is no 30/60/90 second delay. Since this is a luxury vehicle, there should be a delay in the lighting.

I believe that feature was introduced in 2010 models. :(

Yesterday I was driving home in varying weather conditions from very snowy to almost perfectly clear roads. The sensors on the front of the Genesis became covered with snow and guess what the smart cruise function displayed an alarm on the dash and disabled itself which makes sense. Stopping to clear off the sensors would only work for a while so that was not an option. With my G I would have just held the cruise button down and the conventional cruise would have kicked in. On a 4 hour ride I would have liked a cruise system working any cruise system.

I was also driving during a blinding storm yesterday and I presume that my sensors were covered as well. There was nobody doing the speed limit and plenty that should not have been on the road to begin with.

Your complaint that the smart cruse disables itself in this situation, in my opinion is brilliant. I could just imagine some old lady trying to pass me with cruse control on..........the thought makes me cringe.

Seems to me that taking control out of your own hands and turning it over to a semi automated system in such adverse driving conditions is not such a great idea, anyway.

That;s how all the commercial air traffic in the world runs today, and they have a far safer record than automobiles. Pilots sleep on a regular basis.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Traffic control shuts down air traffic in adverse weather conditions, should we do this when roads are slippery? Is this your solution?

I am glad I didn't read this thread before I bought the best car I have every owned. Many complaints are from former Lexus or Mercedes owners. Why didn't you fork over the extra $10,000 again for the more expensive car. The Genesis is a great auto for the money. Only minor issues. I will get new tires to address snow traction. Otherwise, it does a great job for the money.

I hate the fact that many owners posting here are reporting as many as 33 mpg and the best that I have ever seen is 28 and typically it is more like 22

All car mpg's are based on driving conditions and styles, which can vary quite a bit. That should explain why the reported mpg's are all over the place. I have experienced the highs and the lows.

I know that. I suspect there are bogus mpg reports here. You missed my point.
