  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What surprises have you "found" in your car...

As others, I have discovered a perm-a-smile each and every time I get behind the wheel!:D

...- Partial 'easy access' feature, even without having the Tech Pkg. Steering wheel moves out of the way when ignition turned off, and moves back to last position when you start the car again...
Your dealer can also program your seat so it moves back when you exit, giving you the full "easy access" functionality. My dealer did this for me a while back - took about 10 minutes, and no charge to me.

You don't need the dealer to do this. You can do this yourself or undo it in much less than 10 minutes. At least if you have the tech package.

Without tech (my case) the dealer has to hook up his laptop. I suppose if you had the software you could do it yourself, but I don't know where you would get same.

I only have 205 miles on my 2012 3.8 Gen with Premium & Technology, but my greatest (and happiest) surprise was to find that I could buy a luxury car that matched my $65,000 2004 Lexus LS430 in nearly every regard, for only $37,654. That's $6,376 below MSRP and a whole lot less than a new LS460 would run (Try $70,000 for starters)!

The new one is just as quiet, is much quicker, has more luxury options, is just as good looking as the Lexus, and is just as comfortable. Can't understand why I never see one on the street as I drive around town. What are those people waiting for? Is the Lexus logo worth an extra $32K?

I'll just rebadge the trunk and call it an Entry Level Bentley, as someone else here already suggested.

I saw six other Genesis on the road today in ATL.

My steering column control switch went bad a few months ago. The dealer replaced it and they must of had to unhook the battery in the process. It wasn't until the day after I picked it up that I tried to roll down my driver's side window. It went down and wouldn't stop, even though I hadn't fully depressed the switch. It wouldn't go back up. I tried the front passenger window control and it would go down a little with a slight press on the switch. Pulling on that switch only made it go down further.

I started the car to go back to the dealer the next morning and all the windows were working just fine. The dealer told me that I need to plug the fob into car every once in a while to help reset/re-sync the on-board computer. That would prevent the window weirdness.

Not sure that I believe that story, but I do plug in the fobs once a month now.

How do you plug your fob into the car? I know there's a little pocket in center dash but I thought it was just a hole with no actual connection.

Just insert until it clicks. Push again to remove. It fits even if you have keys attached. As long as the correct end goes in it doesn't seem to matter about the other orientation. I thought that feature was supposed to let you start the car even if your fob battery is dead.

Driving home tonight I just noticed that when you have adaptive cruise on and the car in front comes into range, tiny red tail-lights illuminate in the small illustration of a car's rear end in the center display area.

Over 7000 miles and never noticed that before.

Are the tiny red lights as annoying as the unadjustable green lights for the headlamps and fog lamps?

do you have a 2012? I don't notice the tail lights in my 2011 Equus (of course, these &%$$# new bi-focals don't help)

My 2011 Genesis with the monochrome display does not display brake lights either. I think the new, sexier display started sometime in mid 2011.

Yes, I've seen the red tail lights but it's usually when the car thinks it's gotten too close to the rear of another. I have a 2012.

Well, a few weeks after we took delivery of the vehicle, I was cleaning the seats (more like wiping them off) and I found a few Korean coins that had been lodged down in the passenger seat. Apparently the tech or worker in Korea at the assembly plant had lost them during assembly of the car. Or maybe they were placed there for good luck? :)

Thanks for the tip about the trunk opener above the license plate. I always thought it was silly that I had to take out my transmitter to open the trunk (without opening the front door and hitting the release button). Voila, it works and thank you.

The little red lights in the graphic for the adaptive cruise control are to signal the driver that your brake lights were activated when the cruise slowed you down. They don't come on if the car only uses engine braking or deceleration.

Big surprise for me -- to mute the audio, just push down on the controller! I know -- RTFM! (I'm still not sure it's in the manual).

This is a nice feature. When you press down on the DIS knob (at least using the USB mode) it actually pauses the music.

Huh, I didn't know that, sweet.
