  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

Do you want it to work at any time at the push of a button? I certainly don't. If you car is outside for any reason that would be like just leaving the garage door opener outside for anyone passing by.

There is a guy here that some months back posted how he had his car stolen because a thief got into the garage from his daughter's car parked outside. From the garage they got into the house and got his car keys.

You may not like it, but the reason is very sensible for safety.

Maybe they could keep it active until you open your car door?? like they do with the music... Its going to take me some time to get used to opening the door before shutting off the car. My other cars open all the time no matter what.

@sstphoenix You can unlock all with 1 button press on the door handles. Check your settings in the screen between the RPM tach and speedometer

My genesis rep said it was impossible, and a security choice....
When fiddling with console options, I saw an option to enable 2 button press to unlock all doors. I didnt try to disable this, I figured it would just prevent the option to press 2x and become 1x open/close driver's door only. Ill try it out later tonight.

Exactly but even with your suggestion, it has taken me some time to get used to opening the garage door after starting the car. I like to have the garage open while the car is running.

Actually if you just lock your car when it’s outside then this is not a problem. Since you never lock your car I can see why you don’t want it. I don’t subscribe to that philosophy.
True, but given the ease of opening a locked car, it is still minimal security. May even be temptation to break a car window for the shortcut into the house.

Many cars do not have Homelink and have the opener clipped to the sun visor. That is an invitation for a break in.

Sensible reasoning. My last house had a detached garage and I used a regular remote by the door in the house. Door was open so I could get to the car rather than the side door.

This house has a button as I enter the garage. BONUS: I was going through some papers from when we bought the house and ran across the garage door manual. At the time I skipped over the instructions and saw that I can get an app and control the door from my phone. I can also check the status if I forget if I closed it when leaving.

Also have a keypad if I want to open it from outside, no need to use the car should it be out there.

Do you not have an opener button by the door that goes into the house that you can just press on your way out, so that the garage door is already open when you get to the car (or at least go to start it)?

Thanks but it is not in a convenient location. I’m not going to rewire it. I’ll just live with the way the car works.

No problem! I actually remembered to test it out a little bit more yesterday and figured out that it works from the key fob too, so now everything is 1 press.

In my test drive review, although I only drove it for 30-40 minutes, I couldn't find a single thing I didn't like other than the fuel economy lol

Trouble is the character of the car lends itself to spirited driving (putting it mildly). I mean that’s really one of the main reasons you consider the car. Its reputation makes the allure that much more desirable. Fact is driven conservatively it can yield descent mileage depending of course on the existing conditions. I’ve managed to achieve over 29 mpg on straight highway runs. That’s actual measured mileage not electronic indications which suggested 31.5 mpg but where’s the fun in that if we were seriously concerned about it, we wouldn’t be driving or considering this car.

I really like the car. But there are some improvements I'd like to see. But they're all nitpicks and stuff that really doesn't turn me away from the car.

The seats and doors look great. But the center stack looked great until I saw the new 2020 Sonata interior, and now it looks a little dated.

If Genesis insists on keeping the shift lever, it needs to have a Manual position with +/- gear selection.

I don't like that the front bumper's "chin" slopes upwards. But seeing where Hyundai is going with styling, I think it must be the next "thing".

Instrument cluster should be full LCD. I like analog gauges and all, but we're past the point where they provide anything more than nostalgia over a LCD screen.

In Sport Mode, you should be able to choose to see the current gear in the center of the instrument cluster. Also, the HUD should show Gear and RPM shift lights in Sport Mode.

No car is perfect, but there's nothing I really *hate* about this car.

Totally agreed about the HUD - i wish it showed the gear, and some sort of shift light would be awesome. And the frustrating this is we all know they won't do that, despite it only needing a software update.

Yeah...the new Sonata is fantastic.

Why change the shifter? It’s an automatic...you have excellent steering wheel paddles that feel great and placed well.

I disagree with the driver’s instrument cluster. Just because others are doing it...it’s not needed. The G70’s looks great with the raised bezel and anything you need is in the middle. Plus the HUD is fantastic which basically takes over. I rarely look away from the HUD.
Playing around with it is a distraction. I thought I would love it on our Q5...absolutely hate it. It’s a joy to get back into my car :)

I have only owned my for a week however, i should start by saying i do like it however...
Traded from a 2013 Genesis Saden.
When driving on the highway the inside is much louder. The touch screen could be bigger and it would be nice if it could fold down into the dash..
The back seats dont have their own climate control.. i know the g80 does..
Would be a cool feature if the steering wheel was cooled but thats getting fancy.
The black plactic fents on the front bumper are ugly.
However there is a lot of good about the car too :)

Are you talking about a light telling you when to shift? Showing the gear would be nice, but a shift light would drive you crazy. Going back a few years some cars had them with the intention of getting you to shift for maximum economy. It was just an incredibly annoying distraction. Sound and feel and experience tell you when to shift

If it came on only at max rpm it would not be so bad, but the car makers would screw that up to get economy and make it a nanny. Perhaps you have something else in mind?

The paddles are on the wheel, not the column, so when you've got the steering wheel turned enough that you're shuffling, you can't change gears easily. Having the shift lever also be able to change gears gives more options. Not to mention that having a "Manual" position would be nice to keep it from bouncing back to D all the time.

My Evo has column paddles but I still find times that it's easier to reach down and bump the shift lever to change gears. Having the option is handy.

Again, it's not a deal breaker, just an improvement I'd like to see. Of course if they go to a full push-button shifter like they seem to be, this will be moot. My only wish then would be column-mounted paddles.

A shift light that comes on at pre-set RPM thresholds is what I would like for Sport Mode. Lots of "sporty" cars have shift lights that can be programmed for certain RPMs. I know this isn't a sportscar, it's just something I'd like to see. Maybe on the G70N?

I should have clarified - I mean a HUD shift light(s) that comes on when you hit redline. This could be enabled when in Sport mode. Both this and showing which gear you're in would be very helpful I think. I find I'm always having to tilt my head down a little bit to see which gear I'm in when using the paddles, as the steering wheel blocks my view of the gear indicator. Having that info available in the HUD would be fantastic.
