What things don't you like in the G70?

I finally figured out something that I am not 100% happy with....I can not raise or lower my garage door unless the vehicle is in accessory mode or running.

There have been many discussions about this since it common to all Genesis models. Some like me don’t like it but others do since it prevents someone from getting into your house through the garage when your car is sitting unlocked (or breaking into your locked car to open the garage).

LOL it's funny that you say that... As soon as this thread was started I read through it and started second guessing my decision to buy one.

Then I realized how stupid that was because most of the things in this thread are so minor and are just either personal preference things or very nit-picky things and this is still an amazing machine, will be super rare driving around the streets, and it will be cool in the future to own the first model year of such an amazing car!!

Totally! These things are SOOOOO minor. It, in my mind, looks fantastic, drives like it's on rails and can push you back, hard, into your seat when you hit the gas. The instrumentation is great other than a few minor things, and the interior is super luxurious. Yes the back seat isn't the roomiest (but if that's what you're looking for it's probably not the car for you) and there are a few other little things, but overall I would buy it again, and have already been telling my friends that they should consider if they're looking at anything in the class. Just not in Nurburg Green, because that's mine ...

I think it would be great if it worked like the windows though: you should be able to still operate it after you've turned off the car, but before you open the doors.

Agreed! But I would also like to use it to open my garage door when I first get into my garaged car. Sometimes I don’t use the manual button.

Well now you're talking full geek-mode: I have a home automation system, with Alexa. Apparently the Genesis Connect app can integrate into Alexa, so in theory one could create an automation that opens the garage and starts the car all by voice ...

Or have it work when the engine is off but if the key is in proximity.... that prevents someone from breaking in to your car just to open the garage, and still allows you to open it with the engine off.

That was discussed in another thread and is very logical. If it worked with the car off, anyone could open the door if you had the car out for any reason. One of the most common ways thieves enter homes is through the garage.

A member here recently had his car stolen from the garage when his daughter's car was outside and the opener in it. They got into the house, took the keys, took the car.

Also, on a semi-related topic, I wish they would have the number pad entry like Ford does. It is very convenient to be able to lock your keys in the car when hiking, at the beach, going for a run outside, etc!!!!! I know it is an eyesore on the side of the door, but there must be a way to ingeniously hide it with just a little bit R&D...... I honestly don't know why more car companies haven't adopted this? Ford is the only one that has it as far as I know...

I am right there with you. Alexa integrates with my security system. I can tell if my garage door is open but I haven’t installed the integration to actually open the door. If I do then I can ask Alexa to open my garage door and then start the car to cool it down when it is hot. As it is now the Genesis Intelligent Assistant checks my calendar and the whether and tells me to cool down my car before my appointments if it’s really hot out. Can’t do that now with the garage door closed.

You can unlock the doors with the phone app and i think the number pad looks hidious but each to their own of course

Hold the Adaptive Cruise Control Distance button for a few seconds to disable Adaptive (Smart) mode. It will say "Cruise Control" instead of "Smart Cruise Control".

A lot of manufacturers have this as an option, you just mostly see it on fords, because it's best integrated in the door. I unlock my car through my phone app if I don't have the keys with me. You can't just lock your keys inside the car, when the car has keyless entry, someone can just walk up to it, press the button to unlock, get in and drive away. Ford does it so that if you need to run to your car for anything you don't need to bring the keys with you. "Locking" the keys inside does not work well with the idea of Keyless entry.

No, it was making left turns when the traction control kicked in to prevent wheel spin. A lot of cars do that if you push too hard. Read down a bit more and it was explained.

I own a 3.3 and have driven the 2.0 quite a bit. I wouldn't call it a dog by any means, but every individual needs to try it for themselves. What may be acceptable for me may not be the same for someone else.

Not true... I drive a Ford and can lock the keys in the car with no issues. I put the keys in the console, close the door, and lock the doors by simultaneously pressing the bottom two buttons on the keypad. The doors lock with the keys inside and you cannot use the sensor on the door handles to get in the car.

Ok that sounds pretty cool. Doesn't look like the Genesis skill is available for Alexa in Canada yet so haven't had a chance to play. FYI using Samsung Smarthings for the home automation with a Linear zwave Garage door module that just piggy backs onto the standard button wiring. Probably the easiest automation device I've had to install ...

One thing I really wish was an option (and it might be, I'm not sure but haven't heard anything about it):

I wish the 3.3T Sport (the G70 I'm most interested in) would come with an option for Michelin All-Season tires instead of the Summers. I know the Pilot Sport 4 tires are one of the best but I really am going to need All-Seasons where I live. The only reason I want this is because I don't want to have to deal with finding snow tires and or wheels that fit, or buying them from Genesis for more money. I would rather just have the car come with All-Seasons and be done with it.

As it stands, if it only comes with the Pilot Sport 4 tires I'll consider looking to buy All-Seasons immediately and sell the Pilot Sport 4 tires while they're still very "new"...
