  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

So here are the things that they omitted from the Korean or Middle East version that I'm disappointed about.
1. The horseshoe led strip around the sunroof controls.
2. Rear view monitor where the camera shows you how close the car behind you is while driving.
3. The rear fog lights at the bottom of the bumper.
4. The silver front turn signal indicators.
5. The seat adjustment feature based on height and weight.

And I also wish that the sorts were heavier and wouldn't just swing out so easily. They need to be slammed more than my previous vehicle as well to be shut cause there is so little force due to the mass.

So am I overreacting? Or is it pretty bad?
You're not. But I have to say this based on my 65km drive yesterday after my winter set got installed...the road noise lessened and the tire noise increased a tad. Maybe my senses are more tuned to the tire noise now with the X-ICE.
I think it is also because on the 19" wheels and how much lower we are to the ground. It is supposed to be the lowest in the segment.

That would be good as long as it is an option that can be set. I don't usually want the doors locked.
You don't lock your doors?

So...noticed something yesterday. Did a nice highway drive...about 12 minutes.

There is a lot of road noise. Radio off...all doors properly closed...windows closed...sunroof closed.

As I approach a car...I can start hearing the vehicle (tires, etc) from a solid 20 feet away.

If not passing any cars...I can completely hear the road...and air passing over the vehicle around my side mirror/window. Other places as well.

My last car was an 2013 Audi A4 Premium Plus. I thought the G70 was supposed to be close to silent inside....no?

I usually play the radio...so any white noise will wash out and I will get used to it. But I am just very surprised.

I'll see what others say...hopefully it's not some issue with just my car.
How loud do you find the road noise from you own tires compared to your older A4?

A4 was quite...I heard nothing unless it was raining hard.

The G70...I constantly hear the road.
I didn't hear much in my TL either. I say its mostly through the doors and also the lower ground clearance.
If you notice, they used pretty thick/fluffy floor mats as well. Haven't really looked but maybe the wheel wells are not felt lined like some vehicles.

Rarely. You can get a lot of damage that way. A few times I had my car opened. My loss on one was a quart of oil on the floor in the rear seat. The car parked in front of me had a broken window, another had pry marks around the door.

My brother had his convertible top cut for a cheap pair of sunglasses. I had no loss.

Another time I had some junk from the glove box spilled on the floor but no loss.

On the new last week was a bunch of cars broken into and some had broken windows. They were, for the most part, stupid. They left phones and computers in the car. Locks did not keep anyone out.

My car is open if you want to browse. You will find a pen in the glove box and Tic Tacs in the consul. No reason to do damage.

I would be highly suspicious of that 65DB, they probably meant 75DB. The 65 level would seem to make it one of the quietest cars they ever tested given it would be quieter than the MB550, BMW 740, Lincoln, G90 etc.

^ that seems about right to me. perhaps some folks cars need adjusting, but i find my G70 to be inline or better than the usual suspects as far as road noise is concerned. i.e. generally quite quiet.

Good catch, Turtle. That is very suspect. They actually list an even lower 63 dBA for the 2017 Audi A4. Which illustrates another inconsistency, between the 2017 and 2018 A4 numbers (42/70/63 and 40/74/67, respectively). There seems to be a significant margin of error in these measurements.

Based on the level of variation though, the G70 would likely be in the same league of the A4 in terms of noise level, even if it were a little louder.

Sorry but what is ambient lighting? Like the interior 'cabin' lights? I always think of those as more for 'boy racer' cars versus a luxury vehicle?

Ambient lighting has been available in high end vehicles for some years now. It’s trickling down to all levels in a manufacturers lineup. Many today will allow multiple color selections, the ability to cycle through colors, or select from a wide range of colors, like what is available in Microsoft Word.

I test drove the G70 last weekend after awaiting so anxiously for months. I was disappointed...I was in love with this on paper. While the acceleration snaps you back in your seat, I found the ride to be harsh...comfort mode did not improve it enough for my tastes. The interior looks better in pics than in person...the nav screen seems so small too. I am almost ready to cross this off my list as I continue to shop. I think I need to spend some more time behind the wheel to make my final decision. Please note, this is my opinion only, and not a slam on anyone’s choice if they buy the G70. It just may not be right for me.

I remember ambient lighting from a 2003 Ford Focus. Very cheesy.
Saying that, the manual does state stages of ambient lighting illumination. Maybe it was dropped for North America!

No reason to believe the G70 is for everybody, you feel how you feel. One thing I would recommend however is trying the non-sport models. I have the elite, not because it is cheaper, but because i liked it better, The suspension is great and the higher profile tires give it nice ride. As well I am also one of the few that found the quilted seats too busy, i really like the leather on the elite (this bolster and dash stitching really stand out and look nice when not overwhelmed by the seat stitching). Food for thought.

Thank you for that idea. I will drive the elite model when they get one in.

A surprising assessment on the ride for sure, I found both my drives to be quite nice and it's something that most reviewers call out as a nice feature, well planted but pretty comfortable. I did hear a couple reviewers say it was harsh at times in their reviews but we're talking like 5% maybe of the stuff I've read/watched. Not every car is for every person, might be worth trying another one just to be sure though, dunno.

Ambient lighting I see come up a lot in this thread and while it's nice to have, I had it back on my 06 Mustang GT as my earliest instance of it, it's hardly that big of a deal (for me). The last thing I am doing while I drive is admiring the subdued lighting in my footwells.

Agree on the quilted seats as well. They are certainly interesting looking but in the black/red iteration I find it too much over the whole car. I much prefer the black/grey in that quilted look, or the brown.
