  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

The auto trunk opener. The function is fine, its the fact that I can't walk around the back of my car without it beeping. And a couple of times when I stopped to talk with someone the trunk comes flying open before I realize what's happening.

The long beep when I step out of the car with it running and key in my pocket.

Having a button for the gas cap inside the car. Let me just push on it to open it outside the car. Not sure I'll ever remember to hit the button before getting out. Old dogs don't learn new tricks well, LOL.

Agree, agree, and agree. Lol

You may not like it any better, but you can understand the reasons.

Beep:
Not sure if it is required yet, but will be in the future. People with keyless ignition have left the car running and later died from carbon monoxide.

Gas Cap:
Back in the 1970s with the gas crisis, theft of gas siphoned from cars became common. Locking gas caps became popular. Car makers responded by making the cover opened only from inside the car. Not every one has it but I can't remember my last car without the button. Just seems normal to push it now.

Filler designs are pretty much un-syphonable these days.
Jags don't have the button. Any others?

My 2012 Ford Explorer doesn't. When I first got the G70 and pulled up to a gas station, I'd forget to hit the button only to have the attendant ask me to pop the lid (yeah I live in Jersey).

You may already know this, but you can disable the auto trunk open if you want. I did, because I feel the same - it's really annoying and not worth the rare times I actually use it.

Yup me too. Was cool for first hour until it kept beeping and opening everytime I walked by it in the garage forgetting my key was in my pocket. I also disabled the auto unlock on approach because of flapping mirrors... lol

And to prevent vandals from the old sugar in gas tank vandalism.

The beep is annoying but maybe just a little too long.

BMWs don't and still lock when you lock the car. Audi is the same.

Yeah, I need to do this. I thought it would be cool but mostly I feel like it takes too long when I want the trunk to open and it's annoying when I don't.

Does disabling that disable the button that opens the trunk?
I don't mind the trunk auto-open--and only noticed the button this past weekend.

^ BTW, can't believe it took me so long to notice that button--but the dang trunk opens so quickly that I had not needed/considered its existence. Noticed it this weekend because someone approached trunk before I got there, and they opened it with the button. o_O I still need to explore more on my car.

Are you talking about the release under the trunk lid or the button inside the car?

Unsure, but I guess it doesn't matter, because they both still work when auto trunk open is disabled. That, and the trunk button on the key fob still works normally.

As an owner of a 2.0T Prestige:

- acceleration from a stop is anemic. Shows up mostly when trying to make left hand turns through traffic gaps.
- gas mileage is still not great even with the lower-tier engine and using Eco mode
- can't turn off the auto stop/start permanently
- as far as I can tell, you can't turn off the adaptive part of the adaptive cruise control, and it's very aggressive in how quickly and often it slows down
- headrests do not adjust forward/back
- no ambient lighting
- radio controls work opposite depending on whether you have the radio screen up - pressing "up" will move the stations two different ways
- built-in nav comes up with some pretty creative (awful) routes once in a while
- back seat room is tight - not sure it's good enough for a road trip with adults
- no power trunk close - very annoying when you've got a bunch of groceries in your hand

- I also find that the cooling seats aren't very cool on a hot day 30C in Toronto summers.
- Id also like to see more storage for small items such as a notepad on the drivers side. Perhaps on the right side of the cockpit near the pedals.

I find here in AZ at 44-46°C 110-114 F if you put the air in bi-level (face & floor) it sucks up the cool air from the floor and cools the seats quite well. Sometimes I have to go down to low on the seats gets too cool.

Definitely makes a big difference with AC on. The ventilated seats pick up the cold air very quickly and it makes a huge difference. For me, even without bi-level on.

That's the key to remember - they're ventilated seats, not cooled seats. If the air around you isn't cold, it will just push warm air.
