  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

Hi Everyone!
Just got my G70 3.3T Prestige Mallorca Blue.
I love this car, but here are 3 things that have already caught my attention so far.
1. The key fob is too big.
2. The steering wheel does not go back towards the dashboard far enough.
3. The gas tank is much smaller than expected (it is the smallest gas tank I have ever owned).

So far, everything else is fantastic!

My Volvo C70 (hardtop convertible) had the same size gas tank. Hardtop convertible means smaller space for everything in rear half of car so I am used to this tank size.

What's everyone's luck with using the app to start the car up? It seems like every time I try and do it to impress someone it doesn't work or I accidentally hit the button to flash the lights in the app.

Mine works fine, however, it is something I plan to use. You should not just walk up to the car and do it, since it requires the phone (unlike the wife's Nissan Murano where all I do is hold down a key button). Here is how I have used it: paying for groceries. While the last few items are rung up, I use the app to start the car. Car is on and cooling by the time I get there (about 2 minutes, even though I give it an 8 minute run time). Works perfectly so far.

Most times it is great, but I've had some failures at times the weather was on the extreme side. I'd say about 85%. Cars I had with aftermarket remotes were about 95%.

I want to add one more thing I do not like, but I knew this when I bought it (the other things I wrote I learned about after buying the car). I do not like (any car) that does not have real exhaust pipes that come all the way out, especially performance cars with dual exhaust. Our tailpipes end before the lower rear bumper, and then we have the silver/chrome oval around it. It makes it look like fake chrome tips. I wish the pipes were the actual size of the chrome and extended as far. Obviously, not a deal breaker...I bought the car anyways.

I thought the same thing about the key fob (and occasionally still wish it was smaller for pocket space), but I've come to like it. Feels substantial and more similar to higher end luxury car keys. But then again, those same luxury car keys are definitely more pretty

When starting my car at home it usually takes 35-45 secs after the request is sent. Yesterday I was on a parking lot at one of the places I have to go because of my job and I sent the start request, to my surprise it took only 5 sec for starting. There is no doubt that the starting time depends on the quality of the cell signal Genesis is using.

I wonder how much a 5G upgrade will cost in the future. Lol

So I just got my car a week ago, and I HATE how slow the reaction you get at the car while using the app is. It's like a minute sometimes before it does anything. It's so slow that it makes it less useful in my opinion. With my other car (GMC Terrain), it's practically instant.

Just throwing my 2 cents in - never been a problem waiting 25 to 35 seconds. Just call it in sooner if I want it ready and cooled off by the time I get there. Never had instant on so I’m guess I didn’t get spoiled.

I've had both. Neither is perfect.

The Hyundai/Genesis app is ok in the morning as you can start the car while finishing breakfast. Same leaving work, usually plenty of time.

At the store, I'm putting stuff on the checkout belt, paying the bill, etc. The app is a PITA to get out the phone and start it while otherwise occupied. I found it much easier to push a button on a fob in those situations.

I had two instances recently on very hot days where the app could not connect,

This is my first remote start capable vehicle. I'm learning more an more to plan ahead and open the app a couple minutes before going to my car. But, like @EdP said, sometimes it's just too tedious when you've got your hands full.

Wonder if with the Alexa echo if it can be configured to use the Alexa app on the phone voice control.

Ha, you can tell Alexa to do commands but you have to say your genesis connected passcode.

Alexa app press Alexa button say “Alexa tell genesis to start my g70 and set the temperature to 65°. It then asks to say your passcode. Quicker but you have to speak in public to your digital assistant.

I've actually learned to love it. Having to turn it on a bit early means that the car is definitely cooled (at least a bit) by the time I reach it vs having it on the key means you'd basically have no effect on the temperature in the car before you got in because of how close you'd need to be.

Exactly. Folks who want it on the fob must recognize that you have to be practically on top of the car to connect. At least line of sight or with almost no walls between you. What good is that? Or do you want an even bigger fob with a bigger antenna and battery?

I’m sure lots of folks have some story about how it worked perfectly for them when it was on the fob in another car. But I just don’t see how that’s possible
