  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just finished reading through several threads and none of them seemed to give a definitive answer...

I just about purchased an new (09) Titanium/Black V8 with Tech this past monday. I got the dealer down to $1k under invoice, so it was a good deal; however, I had cold feet and backed out so I could decide on paying a few more thousand for a 2010 and try and find one with saddle instead of black.

Anyways, I have spent hours and hours reading through threads and trying to absorb as much good and bad as possible before actually pulling the trigger.
Plus, I've been looking at an 08 Mercedes E350 Sport for around $38k, with low miles...
I'm really thinking going with the Hyundai, since I'll be getting more bang for my buck with the Genesis, it's not a "me too" car, and I will be keeping the Mercedes C230 Kompressor 6spd man, I bought new in 2005.

So, to the point:

I want to go with a slightly staggered set up, like what you would find on a BMW 335i, 535i, MB E-Class sport, etc.., But I do not want a "bling" look. I want a hyper silver finished wheel that looks more like a factory rim, than aftermarket and I want to either stay with the 18" rim or go with a 19" rim with a lower profile tire (40 series).....

One of my favorite OEm wheels right now are some of the audi 7/8 spoke wheels and the concave wheel found on the 4 door BMW 335i.....
I'll see if I can find some pictures.....

If any of you have seen the Genesis Prada, it has a wheel I would love to see on the car I decide to buy.

I'm cool with a non-staggered look as long as the wheel width and tire width is wider than stock...

Would love to see some pictures and wheel specifics to go along with them, from those of you that have purchased an aftermarket rim...

2nd question:

Would the wheel and tire package from a Genesis Coupe Track, bolt up to the 4.6 sedan?

Thanks...Hope to have a Genesis soon!

Using the tire calculators I think I can go with a staggered setup in 19" with the following tire sizes:

Front 255/40/19
Rear 275/35/19

This would actually reduce the overall diameter of the rear tire, from stock, by .7o inches.....speedometer would claim 60mph, while actual speed would be 58.5

I would rather go with a smaller overall diameter since it would, in effect, change the gear ratio and thus help with acceleration and gas mileage. Unless I'm wrong in my theory.

The closest to stock would in a 35 series tire, would be a 285/35/19
Just not sure if I can make that work without fitment issues.
Plus, a 285 wide tire really jumps up the price....I'm trying to keep this cheap, since I drive a lot and will be replacing the tires a few times a year, for sure.

Any thoughts?

I'm all about wider tires/wheels, but I didn't want to add the extra weight to the car which will only make your car slower and more importantly the extra weight to the drivetrain to have to move. Plus, in time....all that energy being put to the road with no tire spin for relief etc. something's got to give and is going to break.

I wanted to get a 245 on the cars stock wheels, but I couldn't find a 245 50 18, which I thought was odd.

Go to a 255/45/18 instead.

That will give you an almost exact match in overall diameter.

plus, stock sidewall is 4.6 inches
255/45/18 sidewall is 4.5 inches. You really shouldn't loose any comfort.

Good tip...I hope this doesn't produce too much wheel well gap. A tenth of an inch...I wouldn't think so anyway.
