  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, I am a proud new owner of the 2019 G70 and DAMN, this car rocks hahaha. One issue that I have already had diagnosed with the lead service tech at my local Genesis repair center is a wind noise (loud whistle) from the side mirror the sound comes out very distinctly at around 45-55 mph (best heard with window down radio off). We drove another G70 for reference and it was also there. We all concluded that it was a design flaw and probably shouldn’t be doing that sound. My question out there is if anyone else has the same sound coming from their car? This honestly will never be enough for me to want to get rid of the car hahah that would be dumb but, it is kind of annoying a little hahah. I think Genesis will come out with a solution soon hopefully. Thanks y’all.

ive never heard this from my car and I like to think Im pretty sensitive to noises. I drive around with my windows down a lot too

I lowered my window once. But where I live the heat and humidity kicked in a month ago. You just about suffocate trying to breath the air around here.

Okay, reporting in:

1. Windows open at 45-55 mph
2. No audible whistle
3. Used my big nose as down force to take a turn while windows were open

No whistle, but the car interior isnt as quiet as I expected from the reviews. Tires are loud and wind noise is loud ish. My RAM truck is quieter inside. I have a 3.3T sport, so tires are louder than on the non sports I'm sure.

Not in USA. All 3.3T RWD have the same 19" Michelin PS4 and the 2.0T Dynamic, Sport and 6MT have the same tires.

True, but double pane glass (like in the G80) would've been nice and quieted the cabin nicely. Reviewers definitely oversold the "quiet" part, but I'm fairly certain they were talking about engine/exhaust noise

Agree with you in both statements. Double glass in my old 2016 Genesis made cabin really quiet.

Not sure if that is true. In fact today I was cruising with a 3.3T all wheel drive with 18 inch wheels. Third G70 I've seen on the road. Maybe he replaced the wheels though because the configurator does list 19s even in the base model. Idk

Yep that noise has been absolutely driving me insane...Dealer had it for two weeks- returned it with the same noise after turning the rotors and changing the wheel bearing on the driver side.
I’ll check out the mirror thing!
And yes I do miss the quietness of the dual pane glass on the G80 I had!!!

I am a new owner, less than 600 miles, as I was using up the end of my G80 lease before I drove the new G70 (Design Edition) that I bought in the snow and crap. But as soon as I started to use this daily, and the weather cleared, and the HVAC fan wasn't running high, THAT DAMN WHISTLING WAS THERE. Non-stop from about 35MPH to 70MPH, especially on smooth roads I REALLY hear it. And now its all I hear. I can even it hear it thru the audio feed. I've spent most of my life in high-end car audio, so this is especially annoying for me.
And yes. as much as I love the car...and I do (except for the noise floor and this whistle), this is a deal-breaker for me. My test drive was on a cold, rainy day...so I never noticed this with the wipers going max and the fan on full.

I’ve not head this yet in my 2020 sport. If the sunroof is open but windows up, can you hear the whistle? If you know it’s from the outside mirrors, would be interesting to tape over areas around the mirrors with some painters tape to see if you can find the exact cause. Make some little folds in the tape as well for that will disrupt airflow as it goes around the mirror. If it’s a design issue with the shape of the mirror and aerodynamics, might be hard to correct that?
