  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who racked up the MOST mileage?

68k+ puchased Sept. 2010

When I traded in my 2010, I had 59K miles on it :o

73000, Purchased Feb 2009. Only problem I've had was hitting a kitchen sink in the middle of the freeway and no where to go! Repaired nicely. Dunlops replaced at 45k with Michelins...

The majority of you drive a lot of miles a month! I took delivery 7/30/2012, and have 1362 on the odometer.

I guess it helps that I have a summer driver during those months when it is nice out. It is a 2000 Dakota R/T, and was 84,6xx on it; which is an average of 6,508 miles a year, or 542 a month.

I figure the Genesis will see about 9,000 to 10,000 miles a year.

Had my Genny since end of May. Over 5500 miles. Drive about 300 miles a week.

Ha! I have 33,000 miles. Average about 8250 per year. I don't drive this beautiful machine in the winter:D

Low miles! I have to ask; have you ever tried it in the snow? What do you drive in the winter? I tried my (previously owned) Infiniti M45 in the snow last year; I made it a half a block before deciding "this is a bad idea". It was like a 3-legged tomcat trying to bury sh!t on a frozen pond. ;)

I have driven the Genesis in the snow. I bought mine in January '09, and with the OEM Dunlops, the car handles like hell. I ended up in a neighbors yard due to understeer since the Dunlops have NO snow traction at all. Given the correct tire setup on the Genesis, i.e. Winter rubber, or a descent set of All seasons, the car would be great.

For me....Why drive something fun and exciting in the winter? I have a 2006 Sonata LX (Loaded) that I use all year round with 95,500 miles, but exclusivly in the winter. Genesis is only in storage about 4 months at very most. Last year I didn't even stop driving it until the middle of January since it was nice and warm with no snow. Usually I put it away mid December and take it out mid April. Hoping to sell the Sonata at around 130,000 miles maybe.....I'd like to get the current generation Subaru Outback 3.6R. I really don't want 3 Hyundai/Kia products like I currently do.

Me - Genesis and Sonata
Wife - 2012 Kia Optima SX

Totally makes sense. I usually park the Dakota from Oct. to March, which saves a ton on insurance, as it only needs comprehensive coverage during those months.

The Genesis is my DD; but if the weather is really bad, I grab a vehicle from work and drive that. Our Company owns (among others) a Subaru; I was amazed at how well that thing goes in the snow with no traction aids. It was like a mountain goat; nothing could stop it!

Now imagine that Subi with winter rubber!

About the insurance - I save about $100/month storing the Genesis.

How about most miles last week. My car is now ten days and just hit 1000 miles. I live 120 miles from work, butI an moving to a new house 2 miles from work on the 5th. Getting 28 mpg at 80 mph.

Is that 28 mpg according to the dashboard display or according to calculations from actual miles and actual gallons? I find that my dashboard display shows 1 to 1.5 mpg greater than actual mpg. Check it.

I bought my 2010 Genesis 4.6 in August, with 31,000 miles. Made a two day, 2,000 mile trip to TX and back two weeks ago, what a comfortable ride! The car has new Nitto NT850+ tires, which make a little noise, depending on the pavement type. Most amazing (to me) was the mileage. At an average speed of 77MPH, I got 29.1 mpg per the computer, checked this via manual calculation and got 28.9! It's easy to understand why the Tahoe will now be used for winter chores and boat pulling (9.8 mpg with boat attached).

However, the Genny goes back to the shop next week, for the third time, to address an annoying gradual pull to the right. It's been adjusted twice but having it in spec doesn't seem to fix the problem. No matter, it will get fixed. I LOVE this car!

Did you notice the pull after you changed tires and are your tires asymmetric?

Have tires switched form side to side to find out if pull goes away. I think maybe you have one or two tires causing the pull. check out threads about tires causing pull. also google it.

Yeah, I've considered the tires might have something to do with the problem. The Nittos are asymmetrical and they were freshly installed upon purchase of the car, so I cannot make a comparison to the old tires. All well balanced and filled with 33psi of nitrogen. The dealer has a lead Genesis technician and I'm waiting to see if he'll rotate the tires, before I suggest doing so. After all, he's supposed to be a professional and I assumed he would have tried this already. And, some techs resent suggestions or input from the customer. He said he drove the car after the last visit, and it was fine, but I never saw the car leave the service area. We're both going to take a ride Tuesday morning, him driving, and we'll see what he says. I'm not shy, I just expect a professional to exhaust all the usual possibilities, given his experience. Otherwise, I can't say anything negative about the Service Department at the dealer, they've been very easy to work with.

Other folks with slight pulls to one side have noted:
* Certain tire models seem to cause this issue. I don't remember anybody else using Nittos on this forum though so I can't say they were one of the problematic ones.

* when doing the wheel alignment having the alignment EXACTLY on spec seems to have fixed several cars. Not just within the factory allowable tolerances but dead-nuts on spec made the difference.
