The majority of you drive a lot of miles a month! I took delivery 7/30/2012, and have 1362 on the odometer.
I guess it helps that I have a summer driver during those months when it is nice out. It is a 2000 Dakota R/T, and was 84,6xx on it; which is an average of 6,508 miles a year, or 542 a month.
I figure the Genesis will see about 9,000 to 10,000 miles a year.
Ha! I have 33,000 miles. Average about 8250 per year. I don't drive this beautiful machine in the winter![]()
Low miles! I have to ask; have you ever tried it in the snow? What do you drive in the winter? I tried my (previously owned) Infiniti M45 in the snow last year; I made it a half a block before deciding "this is a bad idea". It was like a 3-legged tomcat trying to bury sh!t on a frozen pond.![]()
I have driven the Genesis in the snow. I bought mine in January '09, and with the OEM Dunlops, the car handles like hell. I ended up in a neighbors yard due to understeer since the Dunlops have NO snow traction at all. Given the correct tire setup on the Genesis, i.e. Winter rubber, or a descent set of All seasons, the car would be great.
For me....Why drive something fun and exciting in the winter? I have a 2006 Sonata LX (Loaded) that I use all year round with 95,500 miles, but exclusivly in the winter. Genesis is only in storage about 4 months at very most. Last year I didn't even stop driving it until the middle of January since it was nice and warm with no snow. Usually I put it away mid December and take it out mid April. Hoping to sell the Sonata at around 130,000 miles maybe.....I'd like to get the current generation Subaru Outback 3.6R. I really don't want 3 Hyundai/Kia products like I currently do.
Me - Genesis and Sonata
Wife - 2012 Kia Optima SX
Totally makes sense. I usually park the Dakota from Oct. to March, which saves a ton on insurance, as it only needs comprehensive coverage during those months.
The Genesis is my DD; but if the weather is really bad, I grab a vehicle from work and drive that. Our Company owns (among others) a Subaru; I was amazed at how well that thing goes in the snow with no traction aids. It was like a mountain goat; nothing could stop it!
How about most miles last week. My car is now ten days and just hit 1000 miles. I live 120 miles from work, butI an moving to a new house 2 miles from work on the 5th. Getting 28 mpg at 80 mph.
I bought my 2010 Genesis 4.6 in August, with 31,000 miles. Made a two day, 2,000 mile trip to TX and back two weeks ago, what a comfortable ride! The car has new Nitto NT850+ tires, which make a little noise, depending on the pavement type. Most amazing (to me) was the mileage. At an average speed of 77MPH, I got 29.1 mpg per the computer, checked this via manual calculation and got 28.9! It's easy to understand why the Tahoe will now be used for winter chores and boat pulling (9.8 mpg with boat attached).
However, the Genny goes back to the shop next week, for the third time, to address an annoying gradual pull to the right. It's been adjusted twice but having it in spec doesn't seem to fix the problem. No matter, it will get fixed. I LOVE this car!
