  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No because the KDM version of the Genesis doesn't offer the same wheels we get on the V8.

There are some people who were able to modify the V8 18" covers using the 17" wheel caps though, although it does require some work and doesn't look as good.

Headlights

It's raining today so I switched from "Auto" to "Headlights" in order to turn the headlights on. When I reached my destination I turned the car off and waited for a chime or warning to remind me to turn off the headlights. However, it seems there's no need to do so as the headlights turned off when the car was turned off. So, if you leave the light switch in the headlight positon, you have, in effect, "always-on" headlights...which turn off when the car is turned off. . Right?? I hope I'm not missing something and come back to find a drained battery.

Your statement is correct....the lights do turn off, and your car battery will be just fine!

For the sake of respecting others and the intent of this thread, please refrain from derailing threads with 'off topic' posts. If you use the search engine and do not find what you're looking for, feel free to create a new topic/thread with your question(s) or concern(s).

Thanks.

tripod and others: Let's also be mindful of being specific when creating threads. As in this example, 18" Wheels is too generic and 'forces' people to look at the thread and see what it's about. This will eventually cause frustration. Let's help each other out by being alittle more detailed in our thread title... for example you could've used this instead Wing Cap for 18" V8 Wheels? - Chances are, it may lead to a quicker response from someone who is aware of the 'issue'.

I will change it but just keep it in mind for your next adventure :)

Wow! You really think I was trying to dis-respect others?? When I realized I had my post in the wrong thread I tried to "edit" my way out of it but it didn't work...and it wound up in the wrong place. My mistake. Apologies to all.

I believe that the 3.6 18" wheel wing caps fit on the 4.6 18" wheels however the raised 7 spoke design will stop at the new cap instead of following it into the logo. I have been thinking about ordering the small wing logo caps for the 3.6 smaller wheels and taking the existing H caps for the 4.6 and drilling them out to the diameter of the 3.6 caps. I am hoping that a vendor will come up with somthing better so I have been waiting. I believe this has been discussed in another thread but I can't remember witch one.

The dealer sanded/ground down the long and short plastic pins on back side of the 17" caps(that was not a problem) and then glued the caps with their shaved down plastic backings into the wheel covers. They look good in my opinion(and that of my dealer) but don't fit entirely flush within the recessed wheel cover space as did the original flying H caps which are bare metal glued right into the recessed center of each 18" wheel cover.

If there were a way to totally remove the plastic backings from the 17" Genesis caps resulting in the only the metal cap portion being left and the metal portion were glued straight in, the fit would be perfect.

As in the other thread, I have attached some shots of my V8's wheels with the small 17" caps installed in the manner mentioned above just in case this mod is not the same one mentioned in the quote above.

I sent you a PM....

nicest I have seen yet. For $99 I might make the purchase. current price is too high for me though.

I'm hoping they show up on ebay for $100 or so. I'm still looking for a set of wheels that will look good. I haven't seen a picture of one with aftermarket wheels yet that I love and I'm too risk adverse to sink big $$ into a set of wheels I don't love.

KAI has come thru with a perfect replacement for the stock V8 18" caps, but the price seems steep. I plan to check with Hyundai parts and see what stock caps cost. Maybe they are costly as well, so then the $249 might be in line. Still I would love to see them more along the price of the 3.8 18" caps. Since they say they are limited I wonder if anyone has ordered them yet?

post the price when you find out. $249 is a bit steep.....

Got a price of $176 for a set of 4 stock 4.6 18" wheel caps.

I'm hoping they show up on ebay for $100 or so.

It would be surprising to see them on eBay for much cheaper as it appears that KAI takes a set of regular "Hyundai" bolt covers and modifies it using a set of 17" wheel "Genesis" covers to make their product (as described earlier in this thread) hence the price, the "limited availability" and the shipping delays.

It might be more interesting if they offered to reimburse a core charge (like $100-$150) if you send them your stock caps back.
