Looking at the features list for the 2015 Genesis and it has the CDC/suspension as an option for the 5.0, and not available for the V6. Even though it is an option for the 5.0, I assume it will come on most 5.0's.You're forgetting the 5.0 will have a continuously damping adjustable suspension that will undoubtedly make up for the slight increase in weight. Personally, I think that if you are thinking about getting a car like the Genesis, why not go all out? Then again things like gas mileage isn't very high up on my needs list.
I agree about getting the 5.0L. From my experience there is a lot of difference between the base V6 and the 5.0L V8. I just like that sling-shot acceleration from 40mph to 70mph that the V8 delivers. The V6 is a very fine engine, but it just doesnt have the power of a V8. Before I test drove the Genesis I collected all the hp/torque and 0-60mph information for the V6 & V8. From the information I assumed the V6 would be fine (based on 0-60mph info.).
Next I test drove the V6 first, and it just did not have the juice I was used to, nor did it feel like it was performing according to the 0-60mph information I found/researched. So, then I drove the Rspec 5.0L. The 5.0 was totally different for a number of reasons, and it felt great pawing up to hiway speed. The 8 speed in the Rspec was very smooth but also more aggressive than the V6's shift pattern.
Bottomline for me was: get the 5.0, and forget the V6 (even though the V6 is a fine DOHC engine). The sales person wanted me to come back and drive the Rspec again so he could feel how it performed since he wasn't allowed to give it a run. OK, just rambling here a bit, so let's get the 2015 5.0 out so I can enjoy driving again in the new re-designed seat. Regards.
