  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Don’t like the fact that the “High Beam Assist” setting doesn’t stay on when turning off and stating the car. I really like the feature and it works well but like the “Dive Mode” it’s annoying to have to remember to do it again after startup. Unless I’m missing something in setup.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I'm confused by this. I know everyone (including myself) has some confirmation bias with buying decisions, but I don't get your comments. You expected a bigger (gaudier?) 3.8 emblem? The flying H is less of an issue than your model considering there's only one to swap. I'm no fan of the V6 not having fogs, but it's not obvious they're faked. If you hadn't already identified it as a Genesis by that point I don't know how you could even pick them out.
Does anyone know if we could possibly get the fog light part with the wiring harness from hyundai canada? I have someone here in Texas that is willing to install if it comes with a wiring harness and if/when the part becomes available for purchase.

I think it is perfect just as it is. The lights come on in low beam which disturbs other folks the least and stay in low beam until the driver chooses to activate high beam. Then it just takes a quick brush on the lever to get into automatic mode.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I just ain't believing somebody is bitching about headlights going to dim upon start up...... somebody has nothing going on with their life.

add auto-hold to the list as well and even the seat heater/cooler. I am finding everytime I start the car, I am pressing three buttons, drive mode, autohold, and turning my seat cooler on. I can understand the seat cooler, but drive mode and autohold should revert to last settings.

On a positive note, the surround-sound option DOES stick - unlike my 2012 genny - which drove me crazy as well.

Haven't driven my car at night yet (only 300 miles on it) - but I am anxious to get it out to check out the headlights and auto-dim.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

So I came close to getting and 09 Genesis and have been real interested in the 15 Genesis and feel like it is a game changer. What baffles my mind is how they could have left off LED DRLs? How do you target the Germans and leave off signature LED DRLs and use some crappy halogens? Wow what a disappointment.

The current fad for DRLs that make the car look like a rolling pinball machine leaves me cold. I like the ones on the 2015. They get me the insurance discount and make the car visible as intended.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Three annoying things so far:

1. Voice rec when entering address sucks but the google search works great.
2. If you are using the steering wheel controls to go thru preset xm stations, if you hit the up button it goes up in the list. If the map is on your screen and you hit the up button it goes down the list...just weird.
3. I've washed my car a few times the first few weeks, the trunk seems to hold water. If you lift up the trunk after washing it, it will drip out of the corners near the lights. I took it to the dealer and we looked, it looks like the "foam" or whatever it is is pushed up on both sides, but not in the middle of the trunk. We looked on 2 other 2015 on the lot and it looks the same. I hope this makes sense, if not I will take a picture.

Besides these, best car I've ever owned.

Wow they still haven't fixed the trunk lid water problem with the redesign?!

Simple fix. Just use the parking light setting. Gives you rear LED DRLs, as well front.

Thank you to all that have posted in this thread. It's nice to see some balanced feedback.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

What is the thing with the wood dash? Every passenger has to touch it. Is it an obsession? Oily finger prints whenever anybody gets in the car. Don’t feel comfortable saying “Please don’t touch the Dash” whenever somebody gets in.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I don't know about the other models but I was disappointed that the one I sat in at the dealership didn't have a 10 way drivers seat. That's a huge feature for me.

They all have a 12-way power driver seat with power lumbar support so I'm not sure what the complaint is?

Lol....I actually point it out and think it's a very attractive part of the car, I'd think the wood itself is treated with something to help stop it from warping etc. In the demo car I wipe down all the wood with Pledge Multi-surface cleaner, it works great and keeps the wood and metal accents clean.... just spray some lightly onto a microfiber cloth and wipe away.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Does the manual state what to use to keep the wood clean?

I would not use Pledge on that wood (or anything like that). Although there is spirited opinions on Pledge, it does contain silicone and for many is avoided. I would think a slightly damp cloth would be good enough to clean the wood as well as whatever is suggested by Hyundai (the manual does not mention anything).
