Getting familiar with the group...
Hey everyone! New member here. I have a 2014 5.0 R spec. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!
Seattle - Thanks for the information regarding the ESC. Holding the ESC button makes sense since that is how you disable the ACC and allow regular CC to work. I'll have to try the ESC disable procedure you posted. Thanks again. Regards.2015 Genesis... the way to disable it..

Press and hold the ESC button for more than 3 seconds. Just tried it and it disables all ESC functions. I havent tried it on the road yet.
Bingo, it works as you mentioned. One push of button disables traction control. 3 second hold of button disables traction & stability control. That is great information to know. The old Rspecs needed this disabling device very bad. They were performance cars, but as others have posted a number of times, you pull out and plan to punch it and take off in order to not impede with anyone on the road, then the pedal goes dead, then its %^&*$#@$%*(&%$%&^$$ (that means you are not making any new friends on the road).2015 Genesis... the way to disable it..

This has been a very helpful thread and very hard to find lol Subscribing.
If you enjoyed this one, here is an even older thread, where 'removing the fuse' idea was born(post #13):

Pinggolf - I agree with all the issues you posted regarding the ESC. It drives me crazy when it shuts me down when I'm pulling out with intentions to jump on it in order to not impede anyone that is behind, or around me. I understand how you override the ESC as per your explanation you posted earlier, but I have a question which I will try out myself.
I've very very lightly touched the brake and floored it and it simply burns as much as anyone would want to or not want to. So, my question is, if I very lightly have my foot on the brake when pulling out in one of those 'need to get moving ASAP' moments, I wan to test to see if the ESC will be off since I'm very lightly touching the brake (not enough to hold the car still or eat up the pads/rotors etc.
I'll try that just to see if it works. If it does, at least that will be a way to override the ESC when needing to accelerate in order to not impede someone. Regards, and will report back what happens, if anything at all.
FWIW, I just got the "all clear" from the mechanic at Hyundai. David drives an S2000 with custom turbo, pipes...well, you name it he's got it. He's the coolest tech. ever and I talked to him about the ESC and the latest news about it. He said that the method used is the best for the system. He said if you take the fuse out...and leave it out, a code will be saved to the computer...whether you know it or not. However, we tried the new method and no code was ever shown. Which is great news! The reason this discussion came up was because the computer flashed a code to him and he looked it up. He called me and asked if I had a traction control issue...then I fessed up! HA!
SO, I guess we are good to go with the new method and so I will be installing the switch sometime this week. I will document everything...I promise!
