If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Turning ESC off ...for real...With Video Proof!!

Wasn't done. I have ordered exhaust cutouts (shipped, waiting) and that's it so far. As far as the ESC questions, just turning mine off on the dash allows for long smoky burnouts while power braking, but does still engage when attempting to drift. Haven't pulled any fuses yet but gonna try! Oh yeah:
13.29 1/4 mile @ 106.66 mph. ESC on. Really pissed off some BMWs and WRXs!

2015 Genesis... the way to disable it..

Press and hold the ESC button for more than 3 seconds. Just tried it and it disables all ESC functions. I havent tried it on the road yet.

Seattle - Thanks for the information regarding the ESC. Holding the ESC button makes sense since that is how you disable the ACC and allow regular CC to work. I'll have to try the ESC disable procedure you posted. Thanks again. Regards.

Bingo, it works as you mentioned. One push of button disables traction control. 3 second hold of button disables traction & stability control. That is great information to know. The old Rspecs needed this disabling device very bad. They were performance cars, but as others have posted a number of times, you pull out and plan to punch it and take off in order to not impede with anyone on the road, then the pedal goes dead, then its %^&*$#@$%*(&%$%&^$$ (that means you are not making any new friends on the road).

OK, now WITH THE 2015's, we can use all our horses when they are NEEDED. Regards.

Have you tried it on the road yet?

Anyone have any ideas on how to disable the traction control completely for the 2012-14 V6? I've tried all of the recommendations on this forum to no avail.

If you enjoyed this one, here is an even older thread, where 'removing the fuse' idea was born :D (post #13):

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2367

Enjoy (the trip down memory lane)... :welcome:

That is very cool. speaking of that I just bought a $149 Autel Tech scan tool, model Autolink AL619, I bought it because it said it could also read/erase srs and abs codes.

The good news it does, I was checking out the abilities of the esc mod and thought does it work if I do it while driving so I hit the button to "pull" the fuse then waited for the lights to all come on (which the epb never did) then hit the esc button and then hit the button to "re-insert" the fuse well the lights all went out and it was back to everything including traction control working as intended. Long story short it didn't work while driving. But testing out my scan tool I found the code that the dealer found on Ping's car and I cleared it.;)

can't wait to finally try this. was debating for a while as i didn't want to trigger any hard codes in the computer and end up voiding the warranty - Genesis RSpec 5.0L

sounds like fun. Now fix the granny slop shifting 8 gate tranny.. no not a guy.gal or visa versa

This is the only thing holding me back from buying another geni is the lack of upgrades :( I keep wishing and waiting but I may just get the Lexus is350 if I don't see any advances for this car relatively soon

Re: Turning ESC off ...for real

Pinggolf - I agree with all the issues you posted regarding the ESC. It drives me crazy when it shuts me down when I'm pulling out with intentions to jump on it in order to not impede anyone that is behind, or around me. I understand how you override the ESC as per your explanation you posted earlier, but I have a question which I will try out myself.

I've very very lightly touched the brake and floored it and it simply burns as much as anyone would want to or not want to. So, my question is, if I very lightly have my foot on the brake when pulling out in one of those 'need to get moving ASAP' moments, I wan to test to see if the ESC will be off since I'm very lightly touching the brake (not enough to hold the car still or eat up the pads/rotors etc.

I'll try that just to see if it works. If it does, at least that will be a way to override the ESC when needing to accelerate in order to not impede someone. Regards, and will report back what happens, if anything at all.

What is the reason that you cannot simply remove the fuse and drive it with the fuse removed rather than the remote switch or going through the start-pull-off-replace process? Thanks.

FWIW, I just got the "all clear" from the mechanic at Hyundai. David drives an S2000 with custom turbo, pipes...well, you name it he's got it. He's the coolest tech. ever and I talked to him about the ESC and the latest news about it. He said that the method used is the best for the system. He said if you take the fuse out...and leave it out, a code will be saved to the computer...whether you know it or not. However, we tried the new method and no code was ever shown. Which is great news! The reason this discussion came up was because the computer flashed a code to him and he looked it up. He called me and asked if I had a traction control issue...then I fessed up! HA!

SO, I guess we are good to go with the new method and so I will be installing the switch sometime this week. I will document everything...I promise!

Can you explain the downside to just removing the fuse - other than than throwing a code. Is the only issue with throwing a code is that it may void the warranty? or more than that?

2012 R-Spec 5.0

Pulled the 10a ESC Fuse and HOLY GUACAMOLE. Very fun, especially in the rain.

I tried the pull the fuse method and it worked with the small issue of leaving my engine light on. But with one foot on the brake and cycling the engine on and off 3 times the engine light went out without a scan tool. I'm not sure if it left a code but it's not bothering me anymore.
