  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, it appears we need a sticky for electrical gremlins associated with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. However, don't feel too bad about this. MANY first-model-year luxury cars have issues like these. They're usually all worked out for the second model year - and, of course - with the first model year as time goes on...

Parking brake/auto-hold, stereo/head-unit. Also culprits on the 1st Gen.

Thank you for compiling the various threads.

The windshield wipers give one swipe whenever remote start is used and stalk is set to auto, upon entry to the vehicle. This could be a big problem in the winter months...

I believe there's a discussion about this going on - I just don't remember where...

iPhone (5, 6, 6+) paired with the car via Bluetooth – lack of steady volume level of the audio feed streamed over Bluetooth. Different actions that use car’s audio system (sound alerts on the phone, incoming or outgoing call etc.) can (but not always does) change the input volume of the Bluetooth feed to a lower level. What was playing nice at volume level 10-15 requires increase to 25-30 to keep the same volume.
Fixes:
a) Sometimes it gets back to normal by itself after another alert or call.
b) Disable and enable Bluetooth on the phone making it to disconnect and reconnect;
c) Drag the track progress bar to any new spot (works with Apple Music even on the lock screen).

It’s only specific to Bluetooth audio streaming since hands-free calls volume as well as sound from any other source play at the normal level (making me jump on incoming call, changing the source or starting the car after I turned it off with increased volume).

my Equus behaved the same way, nav/sat would just black out and then re-start, can't believe same thing is with the genesis.

My Genny was in the shop for a week while the techs tried to find the gremlin that kept my nav system from working. They had already replaced the head unit (3 weeks to get the part from Korea) but that did nothing but show the car to be in the dealer's lot no matter the location of the car. The antenna was replaced but the test showed no amperage getting to the antenna. The individual wires in the harness were checked and showed OK. As the only other component of the system the Hyundai {corporate) techs said to replace the entire harness with a new one. It worked!

My dealership service department was great; had a loaner Sonata for the whole time (could have had another Genny but I had not driven a '16 Sonata so that is what I requested), and kept well informed of what was happening.

Too bad the nav system is not a separate system. The head unit is about $6,000! I immediately bought the Hyundai 10 year extended warranty that covers all the electronics (along with the rest of the car excluding maintenance items .

You can also add the bluelink remote start to your list. I have had mine into the dealer 5 times, and they can't figure it out. I can remote the door locks, unlock, vehicle condition, etc., but no start.

I'm going to establish a new thread just for that.

two electrical oddities on my 2016 Genesis I have had thus far. Full disclosure - I haven't researched these yet as I am waiting to get some consistent behavior:

(1) No radio audio - remote started car....had no radio audio from any source until I shut the car completely off...opened the door (to get the radio to completely shut down) and got back in the car - all fine after that. Has only happened once.

(2) Power folder mirrors have failed to extend out while in the "auto" position on two occasions now...going to start keeping track of this one as I think in both cases I went into the trunk first using the auto trunk open feature when you walk up to the back.

Curt, for the #2 issue, what I have found is that you have to move the switch to "open" on the window bar, and THEN back to auto and it should work fine. If you have brought your windows in and just select auto, it keeps them in the close position.

Took me a couple times to figure that out, but works every time.

Anyway, hope that helps,

Can confirm this one also. Appears to only happen on a remote start and everything else is fine, just no volume from stereo. Only started this a few weeks ago. Once restarted, all is good.
