If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

Some of the lower trim levels that are priced closer to the Genesis don't even have real leather seats.

It seems like they're all doing this - and calling it "eco friendly". So now pleather is something "the cool" people order.

To be fair, some of the non-leather coverings do have some pluses. Mercedes MB-Tex is in most of their cars and is lower maintenance than leather, lasts much longer looking new and most don't even now it's not actual leather, even when compared to real leather.

Cheap leather has a plastic like coating, so in many cases you are not missing out on much. Full grain high quality leather is nice especially because it breathes and take on character over time.

Very interesting. Thank you for posting a link to that article. I imagine the vinyl that Lexus uses is similar. I hope all luxury cars start offering "good" vinyl seat coverings. I just hope they don't become the more expensive option - since people seem to be liking it so much... Imagine?

I really dislike cheap leather. Most cars come with pretty good, soft leather these days. But that old, hard leather used to crack too easily. I'd rather have cloth. I actually miss the really nice velour that cars used to have. I think it should be an option in luxury cars today...

My guess is simply some of the plastic bits such as knobs and center console buttons. In this area at least Lexus and maybe others are ahead of the Genesis, for example knurled aluminum knobs. Still, the Genesis all have some sort of matte finish that is quite nice, not quite soft touch and with good positive feedback on dials. Hopefully they will hold up well.

I agree with you about the quality of the switches in the Genesis.

I think the reviewers were referring to the plastic dash and center console. They're probably used to full leather interiors. While the Germans do usually have full leather interiors in the higher trim levels (which they probably ship to the reviewers), these are usually part of a several thousand dollar package. Some of the lower trim levels that are priced closer to the Genesis don't even have real leather seats.

That's been my criticism of the Genesis as well - the feel of some of the switchgear could be better (akin to the old C Class/GLK and not the E Class/M Class), as well as the door release and paddle shifters not being made out of plastic.

Also, would be nice if there was less plastic and more leather padded surfaces (even if it is the fake stuff - as long as its the good fake stuff), at least on the higher trims.

This is where Kia, in part, forced Hyundai to up its game.

The Cadenza and K900 had nicer leather than the Azera (much less the 1G Genesis) and Equus.

Yes and more wood. The Cadenza actually looks like a luxury car inside. Not the Azera..

had a v8 ultimate as a loaner the other day
i might be he exception but found the hud distracting
but loved the auto hold and power trunk closer

It would be interesting to say the least to find out how many people who own ultimates actually have their HUDs turned off. I don't expect it to be many.

I remember thinking it may be distracting at first, but after a couple hours of driving and adjusting the height, I wouldn't want to live without it.

I was given a 2015 Base model as a loaner......missed the HUD immediately and felt off not seeing info on the windshield. lol

+1 Add me to the list. It definitely helps me to keep doing the speed limit as the numbers are right in front of me...

yes, but did you see the Mercedes Benz recall earlier this year? In cold weather, the MB tex vinyl was oozing a white oil. Soiling people's clothes and making quite a mess. So bad that some owners were able to get refunds under the "lemon law".

Wont get that with leather. Any leather; cheap of Connolly style!~

Like just about anything - new stuff has issues. I'm sure they'll get it worked out - if they haven't already. That's the tough part of being an innovator. While you're the first - you're also the first to deal with issues...

It was evidently limited to a range of 2015 C class cars with the MB Tex made in Alabama - the replacement covers were from Mexico. Oh, boy.
