  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Quick notes on V8 vs V6 vs V6 AWD

Depends on what you mean by good performance. 5 seconds to 60 in the V8, 6.5 or longer in the V6. Big difference.

So, according to the quoted sources, for my car, I'm looking at:

2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sedan Compare Car 0-60 mph 5.4 | Quarter mile 13.8.

So, from my perspective, 5 seconds vs. 5.4 seconds. Not such a big difference.

my car runs 0-60 in about 6.3-4 so i would think the RWD is good for high 5's

Unless your ego is defined by racing someone from a stop light, the difference between 5 or 6 seconds from 0-60 is absolutely irrelevant.

Actual performance depends on the tires, outside temperature and humidity, road surface, equipment level (for weight), etc. Plus, what settings you choose on ESC, what transmission settings, fuel quality, etc.

So, unless you test a 5.0 and a 3.8 with the same tires, same type of fuel on the same time at the same track, all the rest of this discussion is pure cow manure ...

Why would you say its "irrelevant"? I don't think its irrelevant when merging onto crowded highways or speeding up to an empty spot to change lanes.

I don't know about your 2012 Genesis but this is the 2015 Genesis forum.

The comparison is still valid. Even if you 2G types don't like to hear it.

What comparison did we not want to hear? Must of missed something...

it seemed that jimb100 did not want to hear 0-60 comparison for G1 3.8 vs. G2 5.0...

Buy the Montecito Blue color. It is the fastest color :D

Yeah, that's just about the worst rationalization I've read for owning a V8 over a V6.

If you're having problems merging with traffic in a V6 then I respectfully suggest engine size may not be your central issue lol.

There are plenty of awesome reasons to own a V8, snagging an empty spot in traffic .4 seconds quicker isn't one of them.

Sorry, I didn't see where you live - "The Great White North".

I agree, when a car passes every 5 minutes or so acceleration isn't all that important when merging or changing lanes.

Tampa Bay population 4Million vs Toronto 6Million. Wanna try again.

You still haven't explained why you're incapable of merging into traffic without a V8.

Oh and here's a picture of the 2nd most congested city in North America - Vancouver Canada...but please don't let me interrupt your wonderful interpretation of the world to the north of you. Bahahahah!

Well no wonder! The v6 is plenty adequate for you. Clearly you're not going anywhere quickly.

You know, it occurs to me that with 250,000,000 cars on the road in the US and 85% of those being 4 & 6 cylinder, people are still managing to make it home for dinner in one piece without needing 8 cylinders.

Maybe the problem has more to do with you. I mean think about it, there's some pretty slow witted people out there driving 4 bangers who seem to be able to merge into traffic without incident, yet apparently it's a challenge for you.

Perhaps you should consider riding a bike instead.

I would strongly disagree with that. The V6 loves to rev, true. But it's not like you have to to floor it all the time to get good performance out of it.

ditto!

we have the 3.8 AWD and love it - more than enough power
