I have a 2002 Elantra, now has 190,000 miles on it. OC with Mobile 1 5w-30 every 7000 miles and factory filter. Still runs like new. Mobile 1 is for real, frequent changes are probably more important than oil brand.
Synthetic 5w-20 is great for low temps (and high temps)I just ended up going to the local oil change place and they put Valvoline full synthetic 5w-20 in it. I think most of the big names are all just as good as each other these days.
But best of all, before the change I could hear the lifters for a bit as it warmed up. Now it's quiet. I have noticed this in every motor I have owned and went from dino oil to the good stuff. This reason alone is enough for me to recommend any quality synthetic...
The 2015-2016 3.8 V6 requires 5W-30 according to owners manual. 5W-20 is OK for the V8, although I would recommend 5W-30 or OW-30. Synthetic is definitely the way to go, although required by the owner's manual. The dealer I bought my Genesis from said they use and recommend Mobil 1 5w20 for the 3.8, 4.6, and 5.0 engines on the various Genesis models.

Yes, I understand you were talking about the 1G. However, I don't think there is much difference between the 2014 3.8 V6 and the 2015 3.8 V6. Maybe no differences at all.I was asking about, and they were talking about, 1G Genesis models. It sounds like the 2G, they are recommending as you stated.
Oil viscosity at operating temperature.I have an oil change coming soon, at the dealer where I"ll be getting service, and I'll ask them what they recommend. What is difference between 5W20 vs. 5W30?

Need to start at this link.Mobil 1 all weights are currently ~$22 at Walmart for 5 qts (here's a valid $12 rebate bringing total cost to ~$10 https://apfco.net/secure/R8235W/Home/Entry)
Depends on what products you buy. Some people may buy oil and filter for another car they have. Not needed. Just choose $12 from the 'Rebate amount' drop-down.
I just noticed that Walmart does not seem to be one of the participating retailers for this offer:Mobil 1 all weights are currently ~$22 at Walmart for 5 qts (here's a valid $12 rebate bringing total cost to ~$10 https://apfco.net/secure/R8235W/Home/Entry)
