  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

IMO it would be worth it to wait to see the G70 in person before you commit to the A4. The G70 is such a beautiful car, it's so sporty, and unlike the A4 it's unique!

Not saying you are destined to get the G70 over the A4, but I just think it's worth seeing and driving it in person and going from there. It's so good!

Yes agreed. In fact nothing will make you feel better about the likelihood of not being able to bargain for a discount on a G70 like spending a few weeks pricing a comparable Audi, BMW or Mercedes. In other words, a G70 with only a small discount or perhaps none at all is still an amazing value compared to the competition WITH a big discount.

. Would only be good for local dealers. Just mentioning it in case Genesis is smart enough to have someone lurking in here... 😎
Therein lies the problem. Dealers are not finalized yet. Who are the local dealers? Favor the wrong dealer and you piss off another and the lawyers pop up.

Do it in CA and piss off the PA dealers that are not finalized yet. It is a no win for them.

Dealers are independently owned. So if a group of CA dealers want to get together and offer something (at their expense)...it would have nothing to do with anyone else in another State.

Yes, but the the suggestions was that Genesis do it. Partiality does not bode well.

I guess. If I were a dealer and I saw HQ taking action to keep interest in the G70 alive while the car is a) not widely available and b) about to be hit by a flood of BMW publicity, I think I’d be happy about it.

Logic does not work though. Why were there delays in TX and FL? Because one dealer in each state got PO'd about something and cranked up the lawyers.

In this case, there are probably some Hyundai dealers that were passed over or for some reason are not Genesis dealers. All it takes is one of them to think it is unfair to competition or unfair to them, and you have another mess to sort out. .

What makes you happy can make someone else unhappy. Sometimes it is best to just STFU and keep moving.

There would be no problem whatsoever to have a test drive day in any of the states as long as they did not involve any dealers. If Genesis Corp. rented out space at a local Mall to have something in the parking lot that would be fine.

The downside to doing that from a potential customer's perspective (in some states) is that they are showing me something but then telling me I can't get it yet. When I ask when can I get it, only crickets are heard. Not the best way to keep a customer on the hook.

With all of the awards, publicity, etc. it probably would not be of much benefit for Genesis to hold such an event. We have to keep in mind that the overwhelming percentage of people who will buy the G70 are not forum members trying to soak up every bit of information and chomping at the bit for the G70.

Sorry for the late reply. I visited Bob Stallings Genesis in Dallas today and sat in a Victoria Black sport 3.3T and then went to Genesis of Denton and viewed a Mallorca Blue advanced 3.3T. I had checkbook in hand for the one in Denton but they wouldn't sell it to me (my brother works for Hyundai America so I'd get a discount). I'm fairly disappointed right now, I didn't think dealers would tell corporate employees' family to bug off. There are a lot of these cars in DFW now, so that's good news.

That is too bad that happened to you. I have read on some places that dealers must accept the Hyundai Circle pricing and on others that it is up to them. They evidently get reimbursed for some of the discount so they aren't losing money overall. Sounds like that is the type of dealer you should not be dealing with anyway. ;)

May want to see if one of the others can request the car for you at the Hyundai Circle pricing.

This I know is true (that they don't lose money selling a car to employees and family). The salesman told me that when they sell on E plan that they are just basically delivering a car to me and there's nothing in it for them. I believe that was just a line to get me to leave. I think the GM or whoever his boss is just wanted to have the profit margin on that one vehicle but he's going to risk some problems with corporate based on the feedback I gave to my brother. Perhaps I'll just need to be patient for a few more weeks or months...

I used Hyundai Circling pricing on my G70 when I drove up to OKC. Oddly enough, nobody at the dealer knew anything about it, even the financing manager asked me how to get it. At first they said no, but I kept pushing, showed them the site to prove it was legit, and eventually they took it.

Excuse me, I'm bringing this over here because it really belongs in this thread. (Was just discussed in the G70 Reviews thread here (Genesis G70 Reviews)

I noticed on Twitter there was a guy in Westminster, California (an hour or so south of LA) showing off his new G70. I wondered how he got it. Others quickly identified him as a lawyer for Hyundai. Okay...

But still, wouldn't he have to get it from a dealer who would service it?

Anyway, my real question is: as noted before in this thread, a bunch of dealers in California now have dealer numbers. How long does it usually take after getting a number for a dealer to have some cars to sell?

Thanks in advance.

On average we have been seeing about 2-3 weeks however CA may be different. From the information I got, the process in CA is different than what we were seeing in some other states. What we had seen as the norm was Genesis gets a license from the state, dealers apply for a franchise, dealers get a license from the state, franchise agreements are finalize, a dealer code is issued and then inventory is sent.

In CA it appears the steps are a little different: Genesis gets a license, franchise agreements are finalized, a dealer code is issued, dealers apply to the state for a license, inventory is sent. The difference being that they will have to wait on the state before they can receive inventory. Hopefully that doesn't add too much time to the process but we will see.

Looking at the steps to franchising in California (link is Franchise Your Company - California Franchise Attorney), it looks like a delay of 30 days is to be expected.

Your link is in regards to a company being licensed to sell franchises, Genesis has already done that. What we are dealing with in regards to the dealers is them getting a dealer license to sell Genesis. We have not seen yet how long that takes.

Thanks for the clarification, checking the time for a dealer bond showed 120 days.

Hopefully since they are all already licensed dealers for Hyundai it will go quicker than if one was starting from scratch. I guess we should see soon. Hopefully dealers will start receiving inventory shipments and that will give us something to go by.
