  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post purchase price details here (US $ only)

There is no limit as to how many I can create.

This is good to know.

Also, and others can chime in as well, other than calling each dealer is there a way to know which will accept the certificate?

I think you have to call because it is entirely their discretion. For instance, one dealer told me they accept it on everything besides the G70 when I called

Wow, that's crazy. Do you get the sense that G70s are selling well in CA? I can see that attitude if the car is flying off lots for at or near MSRP.

That's definitely not the case here on the east coast. My local dealer has over 40 G70s in stock, and the 6MT I test drove in early February is still there.

^ Even with the increase in the number of dealers the last few months with the additions of Texas, California and PA, the G70 sales have remained fairly stagnant after seeing months of growth. There is a general downturn in sales industry wide so that may be having some effect. I would imagine the introduction of the new 3 series also had some effect as well as awards season has past so there isn't that constant mentioning of the G70 in the press as there was. What was interesting last month was the big jump in sales for the G80, month over month it was a 34% increase in sales. It could have been buyers in the new states waiting to get it.

Since it had not been available in CA until recently there was some demand there that caused some dealers to offer little to no discounts as well as even charge a premium. It seems like that has cooled off and we are now seeing the discounts in CA that people have been reporting in other areas.

As far as inventory goes, it has been increasing daily at the dealers from what I can see when I'm doing my research. I think now that the dealer network has basically been completed they are increasing their shipments to clear out all of the vehicles that had been building up at the different ports. Cars.com is showing close to 4k Genesis and only a month or so ago it was around 2k. Maybe they are clearing things out for the 2020s although I think it would be a bit early for that.

I'm not sure how fast inventory is moving as I'm not keeping an eye on it after my purchase. I know there are tons of em available

Inventory is improving in the greater Chicago land area. 206 G70s listed, 66 of which are the 3.3t AWD, but only 14 of which are the Sport trim. (I'm getting this from the genesis.com site which I understand may not be completely up to date). I'd be fine with another trim if it had the Electronically Controlled Suspension, but only the Sport has it and that's my target.19845

I'm hoping to close a deal this weekend (I just can't wait to own a G7) but I would advise those looking into G70's if you wait the 2019's may see more discounts, some factors to consider: The new BMW 3 series, the 2020 G70's coming out soon, and the fact that the KIA Stinger is being heavily discounted right now and inventory is also getting healthy.

I was planning on waiting until the late August or early September timeframe for a number of reasons, but I am looking specifically for a 3.3T Sport in Adriatic Blue with Red Stitching.

There do seem to be quite a few of that combination around Atlanta and also central Florida at the moment. My only worry is inventory on that specific model and color starts to dwindle and then I am screwed.

I could move up purchase date to possibly July, but I do need to get a couple things sorted before I pull the trigger on a new car. Decisions, decisions.

Do you think this is only to newer dealers that were just recently added to the network? Or all dealers?

Definitely not just new dealers. Seems like many existing ones are listing new cars all of the time. Over 100 more have been listed since I looked earlier today. From quickly looking through them it appears they are all to existing dealers and not initial inventory shipments.

Looks like I need to get to know r spec. I need this circle a pricing! I have a 2016 genesis(the last Hyundai one!) that is maturing in August and I just got an email from genesis saying I can turn it in now at no cost on a new genesis. Nice to see that they are acknowledging us groundbreakers who bought the Hyundai version pre g80. Have loved this car. Ready for another. A g70 for the wife. I do also qualify for conquest offer but need more off msrp. When I leased my 2016 they gave me 13k off 54k msrp. $370 a month for a g80! I ripped the Hyundai badge off and slapped on the genesis rear badge and that was that. I realize that deal will never happen but ready for another.

When you called, who did you speak with? GM? Finance manager? Sales guy? Just curious (plus it sounds like I need to start making some calls).

Can't recall from that dealer, but in most cases the salesmen don't have a damn clue and have to ask the GSM anyways

Which dealer was this? I too am armed with a certificate and about to go looking.

I've used USAA car buying service on the last few cars I purchased and used it for my G70. I just take the certificate to the dealer I want to use and tell them they need to meet that price and they always do. You aren't likely to get a deal much lower than their price.

There is a total lack of 3.3t sport fully loaded out there.

I rest drove a 3.3t white one last night. Fun to drive. My current 2016 genesis is white. Was hoping for silver. Searched the whole west coast inventory on genesis web site and only 5 fully loaded 3.3t sports.
