  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

Not surprised, as Genesis likely was not going to get a good enough ROI and performance going forward will increasingly be electrified (whether it's an electric turbo or something more substantial like additional torque/hp via electric motors).

The 3.5TT reportedly will push out around 400 HP which is enough power for most drivers, but Genesis could probably pump that up to around 450 HP for a performance-oriented version and that's not counting adding electric motors (w/ Hyundai's recent tie-up w/ Rimac, wouldn't be surprised to see a combo ICE/batt powertrain, as well as seeing something like the Essentia make it to production).

I wonder if Genesis/Hyundai will now consider moving to a straight-6 (would cut down on production costs, among other benefits), as MB, JLR and now Mazda have gone that route?

No V8? Looks like I'm going to trade my 2015 in for a 2020 5.0 and keep it forever. Or I move over to one of the other brands that still offer V8's.

I'd consider a smaller motor if they made a big HP hybrid like the Volvo S90 Hybrid or the Aviator Hybrid.
The V8 is done. Year or two more in the G90...that’s it.

Confusing news... I read two articles stating the G80 has been delayed. This article claims it will be released in Korea March 2020; 제네시스 신형 G80 출시가 연기된 진짜 이유는?: "The announcement of the delay of the launch of the new model of the G80, the flagship model of the Genesis brand, and the interpretation of each reason are coming out. In fact, the new G80, the third-generation fully-modified model, was scheduled to be released at the latest in September this year. Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant in February has already adjusted the Genesis production line to prepare for the new G80 and GV80 production. The new G80, which is slated for release in March next year, is expected to undergo major changes in all aspects, including new powertrain, interior and exterior design, safety and convenience."
But the CEO announced recently before this that it will be ready in September and subsequently other markets?

It’s simple if it comes from the CEO’s mouth then it’s the truth. If it comes from a not so well known source than it’s not real.

Interesting that this G80 has the new wheels from the G90. Those G90 wheels are 19". Considering the G70 has two 19" wheel choices and the G80 is a bigger sedan, I bet the new 5-spoke wheel is also 19" and the G90 wheels are for more of a luxury trim or something.

Just joined but I've been a stalker for a while. As you suggested, the G80 could have a high-end "executive trim", which includes a wheel package, upgraded seating materials, limousine features (For instance, media controls from the rear seat - see the rear command controls in the images posted above), etc. That's my guess.

If you zoom in on the recent images you can see the new five spoke rim is 20 inches. There was also another vehicle which has 10 or eleven spokes and was 20.

Now you are looking at G90 pricing.

I'm really worried, Genesis' CEO said the car would be released September. However this is the third article which claims the car has been delayed; "G80보다 제네시스 SUV 먼저 출시" 궁금했던 그 이유 살펴보니. These articles I believe came out after the CEO's comments. They claim Hyundai officials want the GV80 released sooner, as both overlapped. I hope this isn't finalised...

I imagine the new G80 will have less overall impact on sales than the GV80 that will be needed to make Genesis dealers profitable. Sure, would be nice to have both, but the SUV is seriously needed.

The should just reveal them at the same time at the same event. Release the GV80 for sale worldwide. Follow with G80 for sale worldwide a few months later.

I agree with Ed. SUV is needed well, needed a couple years ago really. The SUV and future SUV's are the key to the North American market. Where I live, everyone and their dog has an F-PACE.

^ I agree that they should release them at the same time.

Hyundai/Genesis/Kia don’t really sell vehicles worldwide at the exact

This can not happen as it will over lap with each other. Also it can not be sold worldwide at the same time. Genesis/Hyundai/Kia always release first in Korea then they release it to other markets when they do all the test for emissions and when they think it’s right to release the product.
