  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Things you love about the G70

My top 10...
1. When people ask me if it is a Bentley
2. The $15k I saved not buying an equivalent M340i.
3. The sound of the exhaust when I really get on it. Even if it is from the speakers.
4. The speedometer changing its spacing from 5mph to 10mph per mark at 60mph. Clever!
5. Great cup holders. Yes, I drink and eat in my car.
6. Adriatic Blue, truly stunning.
7. When the seats tighten in sport mode. Actually the seats are a high point in totality.
8. Dials for climate control, much easier than buttons for fan and temp control.
9. Any corner I happen to encounter at speed. :D
10. The small detail on the window trim at the rear of the side window. It could have been flat and no one would have noticed but it's the details that matter. (hard to get a good picture)

I had this car for 7 months and the following reasons are why I love my G70 3.3T AWD (advanced):

  • Not a single rattle heard after I removed the dealer plate frame 2 weeks into ownership. I experienced creaks in my old 2015 Genesis and I knew I couldn't get another car with any type of pano/large sunroof. Also feels a lot cooler in the summer without having that hole in the roof. This is by far the most well-built car I've had with no issues yet. The coolant smell might lead to something but not worried at this point. But I love they made the 3.3T advanced trim - it has almost everything that I wanted and also what I wanted to avoid in one nice package.
  • The suspension is truly phenomenal even without the adjustable dampers - It is the best balance of luxury and performance, and it feels like a car that was made for my preference. I'm still surprised by how well it enters corners. I also love the fact that they have 18 inch wheel option that works so much better in this pothole-ridden state.
  • Road presence: almost every time my wife is riding shotgun she comments that the dude next to me sitting at the light is doing a double take. I also get frequent nods, hand signals, etc. I just ignore most of it now. I really enjoy the fact that it's a really unique car and I've only seen 3 other G70s so far in the wild.
  • Looks: Best looking sports sedan out in the market, especially in casablanca white which is still the best color.
  • Android auto: Really good implementation. You may ask how can it be different from other cars? Try using one in any Hondas right now, it SUCKS - constant reboots and loss of connection. I've never lost a connection on my G70.
  • Leather seats: Not even nappa leather but I love the texture and also how it feels. Very comfortable seats where I could drive all day without any sore back. Except for the creases in the lower left base bolster that were present at the start of ownership, the leather still looks new and has held up really well.
  • Acceleration: no comment needed on this.

Since I first looked at the G70 about two weeks ago, I’ve paid attention to almost every car I’ve see on the road and have only seen two G70s. People just aren’t familiar with them yet.

I had a colleague stop me mid conversation this morning just outside my car and she looked at it and said “wow, that’s a beautiful car, what is that?”

She didn’t even know it was mine...

She didn’t know it was mine either, then I
Then you what? C'mon..don't leave us hanging.

Haha. Wow...

May have had a few drinks before replying 😁

Last sentence was a typo, nothing more to say other than without knowing it was mine, out came the compliment.

FINALLY got around to seeing a G70 in person and going for a brief test drive. Had some time to kill before picking up kids from camp so stopped by my closest Hyundai/Genesis dealer and they had ONE 3.3t G70 there, it was a MB one with grey stitching inside the showroom so figured I would just take a look and sit inside as I haven’t gotten to see it up close yet. The Genesis salesman came over and started chatting and then asked if I wanted to go for a drive.... of course I did. So he got the car out of the showroom and I took it on the interstate for about 20min. Really impressed. I like cozy cockpits and low seating positions. Acceleration/power was plenty for me. Very tight feeling car. Need to replace my current car in the next month so need to see if he is able to get maybe a Siberian Ice 3.3 there.

Question: How long are the Circle A certs from r_spec good for once you get one?

Mine expired the next day because it was issued 7 July and the June incentives were extended to 8 July (holiday I presume), and certificate was good for that period, thus one day. I bought on 8 July so no trouble.

My certificate/PIN was good for a month. I read that others were good for longer. Either way, if it runs out, then r_spec is really good about getting you another one! I wouldn't stress about it too much. He's a really good guy. We're lucky to have him on the forum.

I believe mine was good for around 3 months. Maybe I got lucky?

+1, r_spec is the man!

My certificate was good for about a week, because the Genesis promotion ended on July 8th. Pretty sure whatever certificates come out now will expire either at the end of the current promotion OR the end of the month.

Hello everyone!
I just got my G70 3.3T Prestige Mallorca Blue, and I am happy to be posting here!
This car is amazing.
I am coming from a 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400. Nearly all the things I am going to write is in comparison to that car.
1. I love how I feel like I am sitting in a seat in the G70 rather than on the seat in the Infiniti. The G70 seats are much nicer and more comfortable!
2. I love how when I change the AC mode, it does not cycle back to outside air circulation. In the Infiniti, if I ever chanaged AC modes, and I was in recirculate air, it always triggered the change to outside air circulation, which means I always have to pres an extra button. Genesis fixed that problem.
3. I love that the thermostat and fan speeds are dials. Within a 24 hour period (of owning this car), I naturally moved my hand forward and raised the temperature and lowered the fan speed without looking, which I could never do with the Infiniti.
4. I really love how the G70 seems to have a design philosophy--everything is connected correctly, from the engine to the suspension to the steering. My Q50 RS400 was extremely fast, but it was a rough ride with awkward steering. The G70 has it figured out.
5. The amenities and features on the G70 far exceed the Infiniti. Even in 2016, the Q50 RS400 did not come fully loaded like the G70.

There are a bunch more things I like, such as the sound of the motor, the instant power, the smooth ride, the seat ventilator, the app, etc. I think I made the right choice switching brands.

Not sure I've seen this mentioned, but I love the pattern/texture they use around the dash's dials. It's a nice subtle detail.

Good one. Same with the guages.

I’m right there with you. Been in the G70 3.3T just over two weeks coming from a 2016 Q50 3.0.

Every day it’s something new I love. So happy I made the switch.

Loved the Q50, but I guess I didn’t really understand what love is 😁.

From what I've read, the Q50 Red Sport and G70 3.3T are very close in straight line performance. I'm curious though how different they feel in terms of their character. My thinking is the RS accelerates harder up top, where the G70 accelerates harder in the lower rpm's. As former owners, what is your experience?

I just had the 3.0, not the Red Sport...

As for the 3.0 vs. the 3.3T, given the increased HP it’s much quicker and noticeably so...

Both cars pull hard. In my opinion, the RS400 is quicker off the line, but only because I switched out the horrible run flats for the Michellin 4S tires (similar to what is on the 3.3T Prestige). Even though it is quicker off the line, I think the G70 would beat it in a race. Here is why:
1. Whoever designed the RS400 engine did a great job. That thing is a beast, and I thoroughly enjoyed the engine. However, whoever designed the suspension and the ability to put power to the ground did not like the engine designer (or they lived in different towns). The RS400 always had tire squeal and rear end wiggle (I am referring to the car in Sport and Sport + mode). I read that Infiniti purposely made the car's nannies less intrusive in order to make the car exciting to drive. But it meant lots of adjustments and loss of speed.
2. Then, we have shifting patterns. Even in Sport mode, the car shifted often, and I felt like I never got the maximum out of the power band.
3. Steering was always an adventure. There was plenty of vibration through the steering wheel, and I really had to stay focused when really pushing the car.

I think the G70 would win because it simply handles better and the power transfers better from the engine to the tires to the ground. I also believe the G70's launch control would really help beat the RS400 (I have not used launch control yet because I am still under 600 miles). I think the G70 would pull away while the RS400 finds traction, and it would keep going because in my short time with the car, I feel like the G70 stays in its power band much longer, and even when the G70 shifts, it does not lose speed.

Both are great cars. I believe the G70 was build with a design philosophy. I can see it while looking at the car and feel it when driving it. The RS400 was a fantastic car, but I never felt Infiniti had all the systems working together. The RS400 was a rougher ride, louder road noise, and needed constant steering adjustments. The car just demanded more attention, making it more work to drive at its limits.

As my G70 breaks in, I hope to see what it can really do.

What am I doing wrong in my car then? My G70 loves to throw LA smog into my face randomly as I'm driving down the freeway. Did you change any of the Smart vent/defog settings?

I turned mine off (smart vent); but, I noticed that if you have the sunroof open (even just propped up) the car will automatically switch to outside air. You can turn on recirculated air, but after 2 minutes it will switch back to outside air. I read that part in the manual because I thought I was losing my mind. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing.

I use mine with Smart off. With almost 100 F outside I put the temp settings on the lowest position and the air flow around 1/3. Recirculation always on except when I'm driving on open country areas.
