Still say snow tires, minimum all seasons.
It's beautiful! Came close to making that jump from my old white car. Too far a leap for me. I admire from afar.I understand the stigma associated with a red car. It’s almost like an involuntary visual cue. That’s why many say that it creates more awareness on the road especially to undesirable entities. I weighed those concerns logically but after seeing all the colors in “person” (except for the green) I was hooked HR was it. Logic only goes so far emotion had the last say.
NH has worse winters than Indy, which by the way, the highest hills are the access ramps to the highways! Feeling better! But when I bought my AWD Design Edition last February, which comes with all seasons, I thought I'd give it a try. I was really impressed, enough that I don't plan on buying snows.
Obviously dedicated snows will always be better in deep snow and on ice, but with AWD I think the all seasons may be fine, even up here.

I'd like to see statistics showing what type of tires are on the cars that slid off the road. Some is just driving too fast but there are some fools that think they car drive crappy tires in the snow.Winter tires have different levels of performance from studdable (for heavy snow), standard snow (think maybe northern Indiana) and performance winter/snow. I can’t speak for the performance versions yet, I just installed them Friday, but based on my research they’re going to perform better in the dry cold and wet cold with a bit more compromise in the snow but not more compromise than a summer or all season. But we rarely get snow so not so bad.
I’m not against all seasons. They work fine for the masses. If you have summer only tires though, I really recommend changing them to at least good all seasons. And if you drive in a spirited fashion at all I think you’ll notice a difference if you dedicate to a summer and winter setup.
To each his own. Don't want to come off preachy. Hopefully helped a bit with personal experience. No matter what, just be safe out there this winter!

What kind did you get?I’m in Indy as well and I agree that we don’t have bad winters. Mostly wet and cold, right? I’ve used dedicated snow tires on my VW Sportwagen for the past three winters and I think they do great.....especially in the snow. However, where I feel they don’t do as great is in some of the conditions we have the most....wet and cold.
The Sportwagen is running the snow tires again this year but for the G70 I’ve decided on Performance Winter tires. It’s not just about the snow but the temps. In cold temps our summer tires get pretty hard and lose a lot of their soft pliability that makes them so awesome in the warm months. Winter tires use different compounds to help them stay softer in the winter, thus getting more traction.

Got my Adriatic Blue Sport detailed. From my review post:
The blue looks much clearer and shinier. It's still a pretty plain dark blue at night with no sparkles, but it has a reflective quality to it. The detailer also waxed in between all the grill hatching, and now it shines. Definitely would recommend doing that. I love how reflective the 5 spoke wheels are and how dark they are with the rest of the car. No regrets with having those instead of the 10 spokes, but then again I haven't seen the 10 spokes too closely.
