I think some tires get flat spots and never really recover. My 78 Chevy Scottsdale had heavy bias ply tires and that is what it reminds me of. I dont know much about low profile tires .Well, I can't believe the Michelins are THAT bad, but they must be because I noticed a SIGNIFICANT instant change on the highway. My car is enjoyable again. I will see what tomorrow bring on the 28MPH and check the highway after sitting over night. I think those MXM4's are just junk.
I hope the new tires fixes your issues. I had got some flat stoppers last month. Jacked up the car and put them under the wheels. Then the car say for another 6 weeks before Iwent on my 1000 mile road trip Saturday. No noticable flat spots when I usually feel them ,first 10 miles or so.I agree with you, start using car everyday and the flat spots will be a thing of the past!Well, I am like you and my car sat for months many times. Maybe that is what happened, just deformed a belt or something. It will be getting driven daily from now on for the most part. But these new tires are very compliant and QUIET!
Keep me posted, I am curious how the tires do after sitting over night.Went with the Vredensteins. Really smooth and quiet compared to the MXM4. And my car only has 24k miles.
$700 installed and out the door.
I will put the Michelins up for sale and get some of that back.
Do you have vibration at high speed that comes and goes? I dont have the fluttering sound, just vibration at 70mph +FYI I changed my tires as well recently and this did nothing for the fluttering sound. I too thought that the fluttering sound was related to a flat tire spot but based on the significant amount of conversation concerning this issue I am 99% sure it's the driveshaft. My dealership service department also identified an issue with my drive shaft but it was not authorized for warranty replacement/repair by HPP.
I swapped my Continental ProContact RX's with DWS06's. Better tire for sure. A little louder but much better traction. Still fluttering sound though.
Nothing really. I’ve had my car up to 120 and it’s shockingly quiet and stable. Had my alignment done too when tires were swappedDo you have vibration at high speed that comes and goes? I dont have the fluttering sound, just vibration at 70mph +
I had them take off brand new wheels from an in stock car and put them on my car and it did not change anything. I got new tires to get rid of the highway speed vibrations and doubt it fixes the 28 MPH issue. It should not be that hard to get it right but it appears it is. Also hard to believe they can test a car like this and NO ONE noticed in teh development. It could be some weird resonance issue.
Had my 2016 AWD Genesis ULT diagnosed with the noisy rear drive shaft. Took it in to have it replaced and the dealer said that they could not get the part, as a newly designed part is being manufactured. No point in installing the defective existing design just to have it replaced again in 1000 miles, they said. This was yesterday, February 19, 2020. Maybe a month or two to get the redesigned rear drive shaft.
It would happen the same way every time. Cold day, first 10 or so miles fluttering clicking between 25-35 mph. Let's see what happens next. Seems it is not isolated to the 2016's, which I guess makes sense.
When i did an escalation for this and my rims being bent the escalation rep didn’t say anything but told me to tell the Genesis dealer to replace the driveshaft and my rims. Waiting on parts for appt. This is interesting thanks, but I would only get it replaced if it cost me almost nothing. I would respect Hyundai a lot if they made this a recall item or whatever it is when they fix it for free.
